Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 6: People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader and candidate for Gandhi Nagar Assembly Segment, S Amrik Singh Reen today said that democratic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir State have been marginalised by the ruling elite due to which development came to a standstill.
Addressing the meeting of party workers at Narwal Pain, Reen said the present government has failed to deliver good which is why elections to local bodies besides Municipal Corporations and Block Development Councils (BDC) not been held.
The government worked for more than five years but without decentralising powers. This never happened during the regime of People's Democratic Party and now time has come to strengthen the party to the extent that that era is returned.
Reen said that PDP under the dynamic leadership of party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and party chief Mehbooba Mufti has resolved to set up a new system of justice and equality in Jammu and Kashmir State. "All we need to do is strengthen the hands of our leaders who in turn are capable enough to strengthen democratic institutions wherein everyone would be able to participate in development of their respective areas.
The PDP candidate said that this government wasted six precious years and now time has come to show it door so that an able and credible government could take over the reins. PDP, he said is capable enough to empower people, work for youth, develop all three regions of the state equally and work towards building the state self reliant.
PDP is also committed to give people not only a credible government but also a transparent system of governance where everyone is accountable to common masses. Reen said that last minute sops being showered by this regime are not going to make any difference in the lives of people. PDP is determined to repeat 2002 era where in every one would reap the benefits of democracy and live with honour and dignity. "To realise this dream all we need is people's full support", he asserted.
Adv Adnan Malik, Bopinder Singh Rocky, Parvinder singh and others were present in the meeting.
