Early Times Report
Jammu, May 15: Professor R D Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of university of Jammu questioning the integrity of the newly elected members of Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA) has not gone well with the faculty members.
Reactions, congratulations on social networking sites are a routine affair in today's world but the comments of Vice- Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof RD Sharma has certainly put question mark over JUTA's integrity.
The story began on May 12, when Prof JPS Joorel was elected as President JUTA and he started getting wishes on his Facebook wall. One of the user, Dr. Deepshikha Jamwal wrote on JPS Joorel's wall, "Congrats Sirji….hamme bhi kahin naukri lagbayo..".
Vice- Chancellor of JU, Prof. RD Sharma, whose Facebook user name is Ramji Sharma while reacting to the post wrote: "Shocking to see JUTA carrying the image of being broker for jobs as Dr. Deepshiksha Jamwal indicates above. I am sure this is not the feeling of right thinking people till date".
The reaction of VC on Facebook, has not gone well with the faculty members of Jammu University and one of the faculty member pleading anonymity said that it is very strange reaction from VC's side. "The comments of VC might have two reasons. One either, Prof. RD Sharma was himself president of JUTA and he might have acted as a broker for jobs during his tenure or some previous JUTA presidents had been acting as brokers. It could be that Prof RD Sharma has been writing it in desperation as Prof. J P S Joorel had defeated the person, who was supported by VC", the faculty member said.
He said that if there were be some reports of JUTA members selling jobs, then why he had so far not ordered an enquiry against all the employees, who were allegedly adjusted through backdoors.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prof R D Sharma, the then acting VC JU had already faced criticism on Facebook, when he recommended name of Prof Dalip Singh Jamwal, as member JU Council, without holding elections for JUTA.
