BJP got religious mandate from Jammu, PDP from Kashmir: Sambit Patra
Sadhu Vs Bichoo
7/19/2015 11:31:55 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 19: The BJP, which is in power at the centre and in states like Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand and a coalition partner in Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, has lost its way. It has gone totally confused. It has started devising and advocating formulations which only expose its political and intellectually bankruptcy and establish that many of its concepts are flawed, ridiculous and even condemnable.
Only on Saturday, the BJP's national spokesperson, Sambit Patra, who appears on TV channels almost every day, made a highly ridiculous statement that "the BJP got religious mandate from Jammu region and PDP got religious mandate from Kashmir Valley" and joined hands to give "good governance" to the state. The agenda of the alliance is "development", he said. "Certain forces within the state, including Hurriyat, and Pakistan were not happy with this development and they wanted the coalition government to fall, which "we will not allow to happen. Jammu & Kashmir needs a healing touch," he said, adding that the "BJP is undoing the Nehru's wrongs in Jammu & Kashmir". How ridiculous!
Even a naïve would take no time after having a cursory glance at the atrocious agenda of alliance to say that it is an agenda of subversion, which recognizes Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists as stakeholders in Jammu & Kashmir. It negates the philosophy and ideology of Syama Prasad Mookerjee and undermines his supreme sacrifice that he made in Kashmir more than six decades ago by laying down his life. Besides, it empowers Kashmir to not only consolidate its hegemony over the polity but also enslave the nationalist Jammu region and Ladakh.
What did he mean when he said that the BJP got religious mandate from Jammu and the PDP got religious mandate from Kashmir? Did he not negate the very concept of Indian democracy and electoral exercises organized by the Election Commission of India to enable people elect the governments of their choice at regular intervals? Did the Election Commission of India heod Assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir in 2014 to enable political players to obtain religious mandate? What is this religious mandate all about? Has the BJP decided to divide Jammu & Kashmir on religious lines like the Congress and the Muslim League divided India on religious lines in 1947? And why did he remain mum when his counterpart from PDP little known Abhijit Jasrotia said that "separatism is also an ideology and we cannot shoot the anti-nations in Kashmir like the Taliban do"? This correspondent is referring to the July 18 debate under the programme Taal Thok Ke (5pm to 6pm) on ZEE News on the waving of ISIS and Pakistan flags in Kashmir on and before July 18 and what happened during the heated debate from which Retd Major General GD Bakshi walked out saying that the people were talking non-sense and that it was insulting that persons like Jasrotia and Hurriyatwallas were given space to air anti-India views through a national channel. Patra and his party must explain what they meant by religious mandate.
Mercifully, the BJP also does not know what statecraft means. Its foreign policy is based on wrong premises and it shows that it's fundamentally weak, highly flawed and against the paramount sovereign interests of the country. It only brings shame to India and lowers its position in the eyes of the international community. It is being dictated by such nations as United States of America. Take, for example, the July 10 Ufa (Russia) India-Pakistan joint-statement and the manner in which it has been kneeling since October 2014 to further appease the aggressor Pakistan.
Reflecting on the Indian foreign policy vis-à-vis India and its Jammu & Kashmir, Patra three days ago became an object of contempt and ridicule. He said" "India is like a Sadhu and Pakistan is a Bichoo and we should not compare our Indian state with Pakistani state". This should clear all the doubts and establish that India is not in right hands. Significantly, his critics instantly, then and there ridiculed his Sadhu-Bichoo doctrine and he had to eat a humble pie. He didn't rebut his critics. All this happened during a debate on India-Pakistan relations on a leading news channel and the one who lambasted Patra was none other than a former diplomat Vivek Katju.
The fact of the matter is that the BJP leadership is blissfully ignorant of the cardinal principles of statecraft and foreign policy or it is willfully advocating certain spurious doctrines for some dubious purposes. All in all, it can be said that the BJP leadership has been disappointing the nation and in the process losing its support-base with each passing moment.
