Akhnoor, a hub of robbers | | | Shiv Dev Thakur Early Times Report JAMMU, June 25: The rising incidents of robbery in Akhnoor have sparked panic among the locals. A number of locals who spoke to Early Times said that they are living in a state of fear because of phenomenal increase in criminal acts, mostly robbery. Recently, the robbers struck at at Khanna Medical Hall, looting cash and kind. Earlier, a shop in the name of Bansi Lal and Sons was looted, while two shops were looted on the same day. But the authorities have failed to act, according to the locals, which has encouraged the robbers to continue with their job. "There are dozens of cases of robbery which took place in the last few years, but the police have failed to nab the culprits," the locals said. However, the Station House Officer, Akhnoor, told Early Times that police have "already solved many cases of robbery and recovered a camera as well as cash which was reported to be stolen from a shop. "We have also recovered a motorcycle which was stolen from the heart of the tehsil," the officer said. He said police also investigated the theft at medical shop even as the owner had not reported to the police. "No criminal activity can be tolerated and the culprits would be nabbed," the police officer said. |
