UT-Air India operates in Kishtwar without MoD permission: Machail Yatra Management | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 25: Sarv Shakti Sewak Sanstha (J&K), Machail Yatra Management has alleged that UT-Air India Private Limited, which has been providing helicopter services for Machail Yatra for the last three years, has been operating without any separate permission from Ministry of Defence. According to the letter number 160-167/SJKCY dated, 23/7/2015, forwarded to Defence Secretary, Union Minister of Defence, the President of Committee, Prehlad Singh Rathore and General Secretary Ram Singh Chauhan alleged that the UT-Air India Private Limited is a 100% FDI based subsidiary company of UT Aviation, which is parent company and is Russian based. "According to letter reference number AIR HQ/S 17726/11/ATS) issued by Ministry of Defence, any helicopter service provider with a foreign background has to take separate permission from MOD, which has not been taken by UT Air India", they alleged. They further alleged that the minimum experience criteria as per the provisions of the Machial Yatra Tender 2015 was a minimum period of five years. However the UT Air India claimed the experience of 43 years on the basis of its parent company UT Aviation Russia, whereas UT Air India Private Limited has not even completed five years since the time of its attainment of its Non-Scheduled Operator Permit (NSOP). The Management committee further alleged that for the last three years, the tender for helicopter services has been allotted to UT-Air India Private limited, and it seemed that there exists an unholy nexus between UT Air India and local administration. According to the letter duly signed by President of Committee, Prehlad Singh Rathore and General Secretary Ram Sinh Chauhan it has also been alleged that UTAir is flying in district Doda and Kishtwar and till date, it has flown over 60 hours without obtaining permission from MOD. "The area of flying is highly sensitive, militancy infested and security prone", they alleged and sought investigation in the matter to bring defaulters to book. They further said that if any unfortunate incident would take place, it would bring disrepute to Sarv Shakti Sewak Sanstha J&K. |
