JTTAC says don't convert Jammu into Pathankot

Jammu, Sept 24: Jammu Tourist Trade Action Committee (JTTAC) expressed the hope that the authority would not do anything that harms the economic activities in Jammu and adversely impact their financial position, which is already very week.
Davinder Choudhary urged the Railway Ministry to ensure that all the trains coming from different parts of the country terminates at Jammu Railway Station and pilgrims may proceed to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine reach Katra by using DMU's local trains or Public Transport.
He said that Jammu had become Pathankot and all those engaged in pilgrimage tourism and hotel business Transporters and general trade are suffering due to all the trains from different parts of the country terminate at Katra.
He added that the decision of the Railway Ministry to introduce trains which will terminate at Katra has already adversely impacted the economic life of all those engaged in tourism related activities and if the decision is not reversed, thousands and thousands of people will be out of Business and cause an un- employment which is serious issue.
He added that the JTTAC is all for the development of Tourist Trade of the region and improvement in the economic life of the people and its surrounding areas, but at the same time it wants the authorities to take care of the interests of the people of Jammu region.
He further said that Jammu can become a hub of tourism-related activities provided all the sanctioned projects are taken up and completed on a priority basis and that, if completed at the earliest, would go a long way in promoting tourism industry in Jammu region.
