JAMMU, Sept 24: To promote the budding talent among the younger generations of Kashmiri Pandits and also highlight the rich cultural traditions of all the three regions of the State. Radio Maej Kasheer was launched by Kuldeep Saproo a well known theatre personality who will be its chief ExecutiveOfficer (CEO). He said it is community based online FM Radio Station and it will reach out to Kashmiris world wide. Its main objective will be to promote hidden talent among the youth of the State and make it known to world that the youth of J&K are not less talented and can compete in Bollywood and Hollywood.
Saproo a well known music director said the ``appellation, Radio Maej Kasheer ' choosen for our online FM radio has been derived from the word 'Maej Kasheer' which symbolizes humanity, togetherness and utmost regard for our motherland Kashmir''. ``We will reach out to our displaced KP community, which is scattered across the world, with this initiative, we would like to make our community aware about the Kashmiri music, movies, drama, talk shows etc'', he said. Saproo said for children born in exile, the erosion of cultural values has played a significant part. Not only the language, but also our cultural traditions have suffered unprecedented damage. ``Through Radio Maej Kasheer we want to revive language and culture among youngsters'', he added. This radio will explore the dormant talent of the youth who for some reason or the other could not get a proper pedestal and come to the forefront, he added.
The Radio Maej Kasheer will be training the youth in the field of art like music, dance, play writing, painting depending upon their aptitude and get them on air to express their views and feelings without any fear, he said.
In this regard through this radio lessons and discussions will be held on revival of Kashmiri language , with proper stress on diction, so that the cultural renaissance could be attained which has lost its pristine glory because of the modern trend, where English has become the most sought after medium of expression, he added.
He said the radio will also organize regular discussions on universal brotherhood, national integration and eradication of evils from the society in present scenario. It will also hold regular discussions on history of Kashmir, so that the KP youth know about their cultural moorings, he added.
It will be catering to our scattered community which is not densely located in one particular region, he said, adding internet approach and ultimate launching a full fledged FM Station on Akhnoor road, Jammu. The Speaker State Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was chief guest during the launch while Minister of State for Education and Culture Priya Sethi was guest of honour and Director DD Jammu was special guest.
