BJP should sit in opposition, says Prof Hari Om

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 24: Claiming that both the PDP and Hurriyat Conference belong to the "same anti-India school of thought", senior BJP leader Prof Hari Om today urged his party to withdraw its support to the coalition government and play the role of responsible and effective opposition in the state.
Prof Hari Om, in a statement, said Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani's appeal that people should not perform any act which could hurt the religious sentiments of other communities was to save the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led government.
"There is no fundamental difference between Geelani's Hurriyat Conference and the PDP," he said adding both belong to the same anti-India school of thought.
"The Hurriyat Conference has been subverting and communalizing the polity from outside and the PDP has been subverting and communalizing it from within," he asserted.
"Withdrawal of support to the Mufti government has become absolutely necessary after the PDP-controlled Law Ministry unceremoniously removed Vishal Sharma from the position of Additional Advocate General and Parimoksh Seth from the position of Deputy Advocate General," he said.
Sharma and Seth only worked for the enforcement of all the laws which banned cow killing and beef eating in J&K, he added."Mufti government is willfully creating lawlessness in the Valley to muddy the Indian waters. His as a bigger game plan, Prof Hari Om said, and added that was the reason the PDP did not forge an alliance either with the National Conference (NC) or with the Congress.
Both the parties had offered unconditional support to the PDP to keep the BJP out of power, but Sayeed rejected their offers and instead stitched an alliance with the BJP.
The fundamental objective of the PDP was to discredit the BJP and create a situation in the state where there was no opposition left to defend and further promote the paramount national interests, he claimed.
The BJP has to discharge its obligations towards its own nationalist and liberal constituency in Jammu province, towards the people of the state and towards the country as a whole and nothing would be more politically prudent then for it to snap ties with the PDP and re-occupy the opposition space.
"Geelani made the appeal out of sheer compulsion, as he knew it that beef row would surely culminate in the fall of the Mufti government, as also in the division of J&K," he added.
Geelani and others of his ilk, who champion the Pakistani cause in Kashmir and are responsible for the religious cleansing of the Valley and exodus of miniscule minority of Kashmiri Hindus, do not want the Mufti government to fall so soon, as they have still to finish their unfinished agenda of partition, he alleged.
"They also do not want J&K to split. In the present dispensation they see an opportunity to achieve their most cherished goal of states separation from India. Another communal partition of India and enslavement of the nationalist people of Jammu and Ladakh are the two main goals of Geelani and his cohorts, " Prof. Hari Om added.
