Radio Kashmir Jammu at a Glance Year 2015

Radio Kashmir Jammu is the oldest Radio station of the region. It started its broadcast on December 1, 1947 and a source of information, education and entertainment to a vast majority of the region Scattered at far off and even inaccessible areas. The transmission starts at 5.53 in the morning and lasts up to 11:10 P.M in three transmissions with a few hours of breaks in between. Its transmission is available now in digital mode through state of the art DRM transmitter but people still depend upon medium wave. For the urban population we are available on F.M 100.3. Apart from studio based programmes we try to reach out to our audience and present live programmes in front of invited audience. These programmes double up as talent hunt from far flung areas as locals are also given a chance to share the stage in the presence of established artists. In the year 2015 RKJ went a step ahead when we collaborated with social, cultural organisations to give them an opportunity to share a stage with us. The year 2015 was filled with such occasions and performances.
In the month of January 2015, on 12th Jan Yuva Utsav was organised on the occasion of National Youth Day, in collaboration with Goverment College for women Parade at the college auditorium to showcase young upcoming talent. Mehfil-E-Qawwali in connection with Republic Day was held on 23rd Jan 2015. Ustad Sadat Hussain Qawwal and Party from Lucknow and Nawaz Sabri Qawwal and Party from Delhi enthralled the music lovers of Jammu.
Programme Executive Sports, Nitish Arora represented Radio Kashmir Jammu at the national level as he was chosen to cover 35th National Games from Kerala for All India Radio.
Radio Kashmir Jammu entered into the new Era of collaborations as a new monthly programme JHAROKHA in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and languages started with an interactive session and music rendition by Sh.B.S.Bali on the Birth Anniversary of Music Maestro Pt.Bhimsen Joshi on 4th Feb. In another first of its kind, RKJ started Qanoon ki Baat programme on State hook-up in collaboration with State Legal Services Authority to spread legal awareness among masses on 8th Feb 2015. The programme is aired every Sunday at 09:30 A:M from all the stations of the State.
To remember and honour our great literary heroes of Dogri language, RKJ entered into collaboration with Big and Small literary organisations to take Dogri language Kavi Gosthis to the very door steps of Listeners and even to the native villages of these poets. The effort started with Dogri Kavi Sabha in the memory of legendry Dogri Poet who has also been awarded withPadam Shre Lt.Prof .Ram Nath Shastri , in collaboration with Dogri Sanstha Jammu on 12th Feb 2015 at K.L.Sehgal Hall. In a similar manner, Dogri Kavi Sabha was organised at Gurah Slathia in the honour of Dogri Poet and native of that place Sh. Kehri Singh Madhukar,Dogri Kavi Sabha at Samba on 28th Feb. in the honour of Dogri Poet and native of that place ShRaghunath Singh Samyal..Radio Kisan Divas , a unique programme to honour Agricultural community and the farmers was organised at village Nud , Samba District on 19th Feb.2015.It is an annual event to encourage farmers by taking farm exprts to their very doorsteps and help in redressal of their doubts on the spot.
On First of March, Live running commentary on State Hook up on swearing in ceremony of the new government of Jammu and Kashmir was done by us on the state hook-up by all the stations of the state. First time such an initiative was taken.Dogri music concert by all women artists to celebrate women's week was organised on 3rd March in collaboration with Government College for women, Parade. Ace Dogri Poetess Smt.Padma Sachdev was the guest of honour on the occasion. On 4th march,JHAROKHA with eminent social activist , educationist Prof.Ved Kumari Ghai. Sangeetanjali a unique programme by accomplished Women Classical Music artist from all over India in connection with Women's week's celebration was heald at Brigader Rajinder Singh auditorium of University of jammu on 10TH OF MARCH 2015. The artists who performed in the programme included classical vocalist Geetika Umdekar Masurkar, Chitrangna Agle Reshwal presented Pakhawaj and Dr.Radhika Umdekar Budhkar, the first ever lady Vichitra Veena player also from Gwalior. Kakali Mukherjee from Kolkata presented Thumri, Dadra and Kajri in her silken voice. Gojri Poetic Symposium and Music concert at Poonch on 16th March was held in collaboration with Anjuman Taraqi Gojri Adab Poonch .Radio Kashmir Jammu organised a Kul Hind Urdu Mushaira before an invited audience in the auditorium of Govt. College for Women Parade on 19th March 2015 in which top Urdu poets from all across the country presented their poetry to the delight of local crowd. On March 24, 2015: Music, Dance, Rhythm, Costumes, Colour, Energy, Enthusiasm all was on display and in plenty as Radio Kashmir Jammu unfolded a package of Folk Music and dances of five states for its audience at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground, Jammu. Music and Dance parties from Sikkim, Assam, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Host State Jammu and Kashmir enthralled a jam packed Police Auditorium in the Folk Music Festival of Radio Kashmir Jammu. On March 28th, On the eve of World Theatre Day, Radio Kashmir Jammu gave the sample of Drama of another kind to the audience of Jammu. It was an evening of Radio Drama before invited audience. Performed in the Auditorium of Government College for Women, parade, the evening was dressed with four full fledged plays and one comic skit. Plays in Dogri, Gojri, Hindi and Punjabi were presented.Celebrating 75 years of External Services Division and 50 years of Urdu Service of All India Radio, Akashwani chose Jammu as a venue for two day theatre festival Natyoutsav in collaboration with Radio Kashmir Jammu.
Set in the backdrop of World Theatre day, the festival began with enactment of the play Ek Kutte Ki Kahani presented by Wings Cultural Society Delhi on Saturday, the 28th of March at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium. Holi and jubiliation are synonym to each other , on March 30 in the wake of Holi celebrations, an All India Punjabi Kavi Darbaar. Thahake Hassyan De Pathakhe was organised at K.L.Sehgal hall, to enthuse happiness among listeners.
April started with monthly initiative JHAROKHA, 2nd programme in the series.
on 4th of April 2015 at 4pm at K L Saigal Hall. we had interactive session with Tabla Maestro Sh. Rajinder Raina. In the wake of unprecedented cross border firing by Pakistan Radio Kashmir Jammu organised a series of awareness programmes including Discussions, spot recordings, and features for its listeners at regular intervals. RADIO KASHMIR JAMMU ORGANISED A GOJRI MUSHAIRA AND GOJRI FOLK MUSIC CONCERT AT KALAKOTE IN COLLABORATION WITH ANJUMAN GOJRI ZUBAAN-O-ADAB DHARAMSAL AT DAKBANGLOW KALAKOTE.on 28th April.
On May 4th, Radio Kashmir, Jammu felicitated a renowned theatre activist, actor, Sh. Kavi Rattan in a simple but impressive function in K.L Saigal Hall, Jammu under its regular series of interaction and felicitation programme entitled 'JHAROKHA'.with JKACL Sports is a regular feature on radio and exclusive treatment and time chunk is given to big sporting events.Daily half an hour Radio Report on 5th Sub- Junior National Hockey Championsip in which teams from 28 states participated in the month of May were broadcast on every day of the event with a consolidated repot on Finals from all India Radio on national hook-up. On the occasion of dedication of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana & Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana by Sh. Narinder Modi, Honb'le Prime Minister of India, to the Nation, the schemes were being launched in Jammu by Dr. Jatindra Singh, Honb'le Union Minister(PM's Office). We originated the live coverage of this function from Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground, Jammu on 09th of May, 2015 at 5.30 PM.
Radio Kashmir Jammu dedicated a state of the art 300 Kw High Power D.R.M Transmitter to the listeners. It was inaugurated by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon"ble Union Minister of State in PMO on Tuesday, the 19th of may 2015 at 10.30 am in the presence of D.G.AIR Sh Fayaz Sheheryar. Dogri Kavi Sammelan on 27-05-2015 was organised at Akhnoor. The evening was dedicated to the memory of Dogri poets of the region, Late Ram Dhan, Padam Dev Singh Nirdosh & 1965 War Hero 2nd Lt. Thakur Dass. This Kavi Sammelan was held in collaboration with Thakur Dass Memorial Society & Chander Bhaga Sanskriti Manch.
On 4th June : Radio Kashmir, Jammu and J & K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages jointly felicitated, renowned theatre personality , writer, educationist, actor and social activist Prof. Rita Jatendra , former Secretary of the Academy, in a simple but impressive function at K.L Saigal Hall, Jammu under its regular series of interaction and felicitation programme entitled 'JHAROKHA'. On 9th June Honourable Minister of forests and social welfare Sh.Bali Bhagat was invited to Radio Kashmir Jammu for an in-depth interview on the state of our forests and the various social welfare schemes of the centre and state governments.Continuing its efforts towards the promotion of Art, Culture and Languages Radio Kashmir Jammu and JKAACl organized multilingual Kahani Gosthi under the title "STREE SHAKTI" on 10th May at K.L Saigal Hall.

On 15th June Radio Kashmir Jammu organized a Poetic symposium and Folk music concert in Gojri language at Gandoh, Block Bhalessa which is a far flung area of Distt Doda before invited audience.. At the start of the programme four books were also released by Tehsiladar Gandoh Sh.Din Mohammad Afaque, Station Director Radio Kashmir jammu Sh.V.K.Sambyal, Former Minister and MLA Mohd. Sharief Niaz, SDPO Mr.B.L.Ganjoo and other prominent citizens. Gojri Books "Teer Trikha" by Sofi Hashim Din, "Asrar" by Khakan Sajjad, "Nazak Khyal" by Basharat Nazik and "Jan-E-Ghazal" by Jan Mohammad Hakeem were released on the occasion. On June 18th Radio Kashmir Jammu organized a brief Yoga workshop in the hall of P.I.B to commemorate first International Yoga Day. We lost a few of our colleagues in the year. A condolence meeting was held at Radio Kashmir Jammu to condole the untimely and sad demise of former senior announcer Smt. Sunanda Padha who breathed her last on 21.6.2015 after a brief illness.
Radio Kashmir Jammu makes the flavour of the land reach music national audience on national hook up all over India, flavors of Dogri and Gojri folk in the voice of Asha Kesar and Bashir Ahmed Mastana in the National Programme of Regional folk & light music on 2nd of July, 2015 at 9.30 PM. On July 4, Radio Kashmir, Jammu and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of art, Culture Languages jointly felicitated the renowned Dogri Folk Singer Sh.Parkash Sharma in an impressive function in the Foyer of Abhinav Theatre, Jammu under its regular series of interaction and felicitation programme entitled 'JHAROKHA'. In similar vein Radio Kashmir Jammu & JKAACL organized Dogri Kahani Goshthi in the auditorium of Women College, Parade. Radio Kashmir Jammu in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art,Culture and Languages organised DOGRI KAVI GOSHTHI in the fond memory of renowned Dogri poet DINU BHAI PANT on Friday 24th July 2015 .
On 4th Aug in JHAROKHA, RKJ and JKAACL felicitated Queen of Bhakh, Krishana Kumari. On 7th august, continuing with efforts to take radio to the very doorsteps of its listeners, Radio Kashmir Jammu organised a Poetic Symposium and a music concert at the historic and world famous town of Basohli on 13th August ,Jam packed auditorium of Government College for Women echoed with melodious Folk Tunes of neighbouring states Punjab and Himachal when Radio Kashmir Jammu presented to its audience a live Folk Music Evening 'Sangeet Utsav' in connection with its elaborate celebrations on Independence Day. , Bawa sisters, Lachi and Glory Bawa gave a scintillating performance of Punjabi Folk in front of invited audience. Regular Series in Sainkon ke liye based on interviews with war heroes of 65 war started on daily basis for 13 episodes was broadcast in the month of August.
On 4th Sept. JHAROKHA was with Sh N.D.Jamwal, a multifaceted personality of the region. On 13th Sept., we organised a Dogri Kavi Gosthi at Kupper Bajalta in which 13 poets presented their poetry to the invited audience. A KAVI GOSHTHI in Dogri in the loving memory of Dogri poet and a very senior announcer of Radio Kashmir Jammu Late Sh.Yash Sharma was organised on 17th september. A book on the collection of poems of Yash Ji entitled "KAGADH KA GHAR", compiled by his daughter Seema Anil Sehgal was also released on the occasion.
PRESTIGIOUS AKASHWANI SANGEET SAMMELAN 2015 CONCERT was given to Jammu again for this year.Director General All India Radio organized a scintillating programme of Indian classical music before invited audience in the Brigader Rajinder Singh Auditorium of University of Jammu. Jammu was chosen for morning Ragas and hence the concert started at 11 am with Vocal recital by Rajesh and Geetesh Mishra. They were accompanied by Ms. Ritu Mishra on Tabla , Kamal Ahmad on Sarangi and Debashish Adhikari on Harmonium.Rajesh and Geetesh have a mellifluous voice which enraptures the audience. On 4th Nov. Jharokha with renowned urdu poet Vidya Rattan Aasi was organised. Hon'ble P.M Sh. Narendra Modi Dedicated Baghliar Phase 2 to the nation. RADIO KASHMIR JAMMU prepared a consolidated report on PM,s Visit that was broadcast on National Hook Up on 7th November at 8 P.M all over India.Radio Kashmir Jammu started its broadcasts on DRM transmitter from the start of November. On Nov.19th we organised a seminar in connection with Beti Bachoo Beti Padhoo on National Integration Day at Government Higher secondary school Rajpura, Dist.Samba. The school is situated at International Border with Pakistan
Awards and recognitions are a part of hard work, Two of our entries, the only two categories that they participated in , fetched them two awards in the prestigious AKASHWANI ANNUAL AWARDS 2014.
Lassa Kaul Award for the best feature in National Integration category went to Radio Kashmir Jammu's entry in Urdu, MAZHAB NAHIN SIKHATA AAPAS MEIN BAIR RAKHNA written and produced by Programme Executive Satish Vimal. Another entry of Radio Kashmir Jammu was awarded with the first certificate of merit in the category of Radio Plays. Pallavi, written by Pritam Katoch and produced by another accomplished Programme Executive of Radio Kashmir Jammu, Sanjeev Sharma is a heart rendering sensitive tale of a transgender named Pallavi.
Foundation Day on Dec 1 Celebrated in the compound with a Dogri Folk Music concert reviving age old tradiotion of concerts in the compound of RKJ.
On 4th Dec in JHAROKHA we felicitated Sh. K.L Verma, a prominent Tabla Player of the State in the 10th edition of our joint monthly venture On 9th Dec. Continuing with its efforts to take radio to the very doorsteps of its fans, Radio Kashmir Jammu organised a Dogri Kavi Ghosthi at Dhok Waziran near Nagrota. The sleepy town of Lassana in Surankote, Poonch buzzed with enthusiasm when Radio Kashmir Jammu organised a Gojri Mushaira and a Gojri Musical concert on Wednesday, the 16th of Dec 2015. The event was organised in collaboration with a literary organisation of the place "Baba Nizami Bazm-e-Adab Surankote in the memory of great Parliamentarian, luminary, visionary & social activist of the region Chowdhary Mohd. Aslam. In remembering our Heroes we rejuvenate ourselves for greater works. Dogri Kavi Goshthi in honour of Great Dogri Poet , artist and a man of multi talents Lt.Sh.O.P.Sharma Sarthi was organised on the 23rd Dec 2015 , at K.L.Saigal Hall . Respecting and propagating all the regions and languages, a scintillating Kashmiri Music concert was organised on 28th Dec to a jam packed audience in Abhinav Theatre. The year came to an end with our tribute to the elders of the society when we performed a music concert AASHIRWAD at Old Age Home, Ambphalla on 31st Dec.to pay our respect and gratitude to the elders of the society whom their near and dear ones have shunned away. The event also served as a message to the younger generation to respect their elders and not to dump them in the manner they dump the year. The programme was aired from 11: 10 P.M till 12 P.M to usher in the New Year.
