Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Feb 28: A day after Early Times carried a news item, highlighting demand of realignment of road in the project area of 1000 MW Pakal-Dool power project by the affected families, Chenab Valley Power Project Private (CVPPP) Ltd, a joint venture company of NHPC and state government, ordered immediate stopping of the allotment of contract of the said road to contractor. Sources said the general manager of Pakal-Dool power project had directed officials not to handover the allotment letter to the local contractor who had won the bid for construction of road from Kwar bridge to Head Race Tunnel and Surge Shaft and demanded its realignment via village Tangi (through Middle School, Tangi) via village Arzi up to Surge Shaft. The new alignment involved the state land and would save villagers' land. It would also shorten the distance by 1.5 km, the sources added. Sources said CVPPP GM P B Jain had agreed to allot the tender to the local contractor even as he had quoted 70 pc below rate. |
