Jammu, May 17: The helipad authorities shifted their landing base from Katra helipad to Kakrayal University for safety reasons after a fire broke out near helipad today morning, official sources said.
Official sources said that the fire broke out in the ridge adjoining area to Banganga and helipad Katra which spread about 10 kms of area.
However, despite of joint efforts of Katra police, Shrine Board, forest authorities and fire department, the fire could be doused after ten hours of hectic struggle.
The smoke and fire causing inconvenience flight operations hence forced the helipad authorities to shift their landing base from Katra Helipad to Kakrayal University for safety reasons. Taking precautions, the helipad authorities also shifted their light fuel stocks to safer places as a preventive measures while the rescue cum fire extinguishing operations were on till late hours. |
