Jammu, May 17: Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu, Suneet Gupta today rejected the bail application of one Venkata Krishna Modegula who was arrested by the crime branch (CB) of police for allegedly duping a businessman here of Rs 8 cr in the name of supplying him 'tratgola'.
Raj Kumar Gupta, son of Sardari Lal Gupta of Gandhi Nagar lodged a written complaint with CB, alleging therein that Venkata of Secundrabad, Hyderabad, D BalasubranayamTirupati, Gowhar Hussain Rather, son of Mohammad Yousaf Rather of Qazi Bagh, Anantnag, Afroz Ahmed Khan of Srinagar, Mushtaq Ahmed of Lalpora, Kupwara, Sohail Ahmed Khan of Anantnag, Imtiaz Ahmed Bhat, son of Mohammad Subhan of Khanabal Balapora, Anantnag, Bilqees Mir, wife of Imitiaz Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Maqbool Dar of Kupwara, Irfan Ul Hamid, son of Abdul Hamid of Droundi Bhalla, Doda, Sheikh Irshad, son of Sheikh Manzoor of Udrana, Bhaderwah, Mohammad Ishtiaq Lone, Syed Gulzar Ahmed, son of Qamar Din of Nejama Lakhripura, Abdul Rashid Malik, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Kulgam, Manoj Kalsi, son of Khushal Chand of Krishna Nagar, Balbir Singh, son of Mehar Singh of Krishna Nagar, Parvez Ahmed Bakarwal of Mansar, Tahir Bakarwal of Mansar, B Ramakrishna of Kolkata, Raju Kumar Singh of Kolkata, Ajay Saini and Ashok Tak, both residents of Janipura, had allured him into buying Rice Puller (RP), which according to them, was a precious article.
However, after taking a huge sum of money, the accused vanished into thin air, thereby cheating him of his money, he alleged.
During investigation, CB found that the complaint had transferred a huge sum of money to the accused through RTGs from different banks and through cash to buy RP.
Rs 82 lakh were transferred in the A/c No 037105005874 and paid through cheque to Venkata, Rs 15 lakh in A/c Nos 913010048394983 and 912010015297872 of Balasubranayam Tirupati, Rs 91.50 lakh in East West Vintrade Pvt Ltd's A/c No 037105005873, Rs 76.23 lakh through cash and in A/c No 0161040100016504 of Gowhar Rather, Rs 14.70 lakh in A/c No 04151050008299 of Afroz Ahmed, Rs 3.20 lakh in A/c No 0595040100000454 of Mushtaq Ahmed, Rs 35.25 lakh in A/c Nos 08581530002769 and 50100016216098 of Sohail Ahmed Khan, Rs 5 lakh to Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, Rs 1 lakh to Maqbool Dar, Rs 1.50 lakh to Irfan Ul Hamid in his A/c No 0058SB134898, Rs 6 lakh to Sheikh Irshad Ahmed in A/c No 50100000509557, Rs 19 lakh to Syed Gulzar Ahmed, Rs 39.20 lakh to B Ramakrishna and Rs 5 lakh to Raju Kumar Singh. The accused duped the complainant of a total of Rs 7.99 cr.
The accused were booked by CB under sections 420, 406 and 120-B of RPC. On the basis of complainant's statement recorded by CB under section 161 of CrPC, sections 467, 468 and 471 of RPC were added in the case. Venkata was alleged to have cheated the complainant and a number of other persons. He was arrested from Padma Rao Nagar, Hyderabad, on May 6, 2016. He alone was alleged to have fraudulently taken over Rs 3 cr from the complainant.
The CJM observed that the from the perusal of the whole allegations and as per the CB report, it seemed that there was a wide network spread all over India for alluring and cheating the innocent persons and the accused was also found to be part of this network. If the concession of bail was extended to him, there was every likelihood that the offences might be repeated by him.
With these observations, the court rejected his bail application. (JNF) |
