Court frames charges in Akhnoor sex scam

Jammu, May 17: Fast track court presiding officer Kishore Kumar today framed charges in the Akhnoor sex scandal against the accused.
While charges were framed against Pawan Kumar alias Pappa, son of Balak Ram of Akhnoor, Amit Gupta, son of Chaman Lal of Ward No 2, Akhnoor, Anil Magotra, son of Harminder Lal of Barui (at present Manda, Akhnoor), Harminder Singh alias Mintu, son of Babu Singh of Jadh, Jourian, and Rahul Gupta, son of Inder Prakash of Ward No 6, Jia Pota Mohalla, Akhnoor, under section 376 of RPC, Hardeep Tangotra alias Sahil alias Rehan, son of Krishan Lal of Gandarwan, Akhnoor, were charge sheeted for the commission of offences under sections 376 and 511 of RPC.
According to the police case, Surinder Kumar lodged a written complaint with Akhnoor police station, alleging therein that his 15-year-old daughter had been abducted by one Abhi alias Gulshan Kumar, son of Tarsem Lal of Pathankot. Though the girl had gone missing on November 12, 2015, police were informed on December 2, 2015. Surinder stated that there was a delay because they themselves had been searching for the girl at their relatives' places. Acting on his complaint, police registered an FIR and entrusted investigation to ASI Kuldeep Singh who raided a house at Tangu Chowk, Pathankot, and recovered the girl from Abhi's possession. The girl was got medically examined at SDH, Akhnoor. After recording her statement under section 164-A of CrPC, section 376 of RPC was also added to the offence. The presiding officer, after hearing the two sides, said on the basis of material on record prima facie in the shape of facts of the case as emerging in the documents collected and the statements of witnesses recorded by the investigating agency, including CDRs (call detail records), there was sufficient material on record for framing charges against the accused.
