| Illicit distillation hubs raided, 3100 ltrs of Lahan destroyed, one held | | | Early Times Report
Kathua Jun 29: To stop the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, the Excise Team Kathua under the command of ETO Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta and ETO Eradication & Enforcement Wing Jammu Suresh Sharma raided some distillation hubs in Kathua and destroyed 1025 litres of Lahan, 80 bottles and 225 pouches of illicit liquor during the series of raids.
According to official spokesperson, the excise sleuths of Kathua Excise Range along with the Excise Eradication Wing Jammu conducted series of raids in villages like Sherpur, Sitdyal, Kokhyal, Budhi, Chakdrabkhan Ladwaland Sunjwan areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
"In the process more than 1025 litres of Lahan, 80 bottles and 225 pouches of illicit liquor made from Lahan was recovered by the raiding team which was later destroyed by the team on spot, he added.
He said that sleuths also arrested one person namely Rakesh Kumar son of Amar Nath of Budhi, Kathua under section 48 of J&K Excise Act, 1958.
"The raiding team also recovered three working stills which were also destroyed on spot, official said while adding, "Department has initiated multi-pronged strategy to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liqour." |
