Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 20: The murderous attack on Early Times' whistleblower in Rajouri area of Jammu province has exposed the doublespeak of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). On one hand, the ruling party in the state is supporting the attackers who believe in "Gunda Raaj", whereas being into opposition in Bihar, the BJP has sought CBI inquiry into murder of a journalist.. On September 19, at the behest of BJP MLA, his "henchmen" made a murderous attack on the whistleblower in Sunderbani area, only because this young man had been exposing the rot in the system in Jammu, much in line line to uphold Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan of "Na Khavunga, Na Khanay Dunga." But as this whistleblower was about to open a can of worms over corruption and nepotism being promoted by BJP MLA and others in the party, he was beaten ruthlessly and threatened with life if he dared to raise voice against rampant corruption. Compounding miseries for the wounded whistleblower, the ruling party has been pressurizing the police and civil administration to tamper the facts pertaining to attack on the poor man, who was religiously working in line with Modi's slogan of honesty. But state chapter of BJP wants this man of integrity, presently undergoing treatment in Government Medical College Hospital, to be booked in a criminal case so that no one in future dares to raise voice against corruption in the region." Some days ago, the father-in-law of PRO to MLA Ravinder Raina had offered bribe to this whistleblower for hiding facts about bungling of works executed under centrally sponsored schemes in rural areas of Jammu region. But that the whistleblower didn't tow line with the corrupt, he has was attacked. While the victim fears threat to life, the ruling BJP wants to muzzle his voice further. This is against the role, which BJP has adopted in opposition in Bihar. On May 14, 2016, BJP demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing of a journalist in Siwan and hinted about the alleged involvement of a jailed RJD strongman in the murder. "The needle of suspicion points to a jailed 'bahubali' (muscleman) in the murder of journalist Rajdeo Ranjan. Since such a high profile person is suspected, its a known fact that Bihar police would not be able to do justice to the case. Hence the matter should be handed over to the CBI," senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi told media. Kumar along with leader of opposition in Legislative Assembly Prem Kumar and state BJP chief Mangal Pandey visited the family of Ranjan, the district bureau chief of Hindi daily "Hindustan", who was shot dead at Station Road under Town police station on the previous night. But BJP's role in Jammu, the region which voted this party to power, is a different story. Here favoritism and nepotism, as per people, has crossed all limits whereas those who raise voice against injustice are either muzzled or threatened. Despite repeated attempts MLA Ravinder Raina didn't respond to phone calls. When contacted senior BJP leader and state president Sat Sharma feigned ignorance about the issue. "You better contact the MLA. How do I know what has happened," Sharma said. When told that news has already appeared in media, he said: "There are some newspapers which we don't read because they don't work professionally. They only believe in negative news and never write anything good… Don't call me again," he said and dropped the phone.
