Mantri's brother ‘steals’ water from public tube well
To run his stone crusher

Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 17: Brother of a cabinet minister has openly been stealing large quantity of drinking water for his stone crushing unit, from a tube-well dug up by central Ground Water Board (CGWB) for public of Kathua.
Sources informed Early Times that the Central Ground Water Board had dug up a tube-well of good capacity for the public of a village-which falls just few kilometres from district headquarters of Kathua-after spending funds to the tune of several Lakhs of rupees.
"The CGWB has to hand over the tube-well to the district administration Kathua but due to some unknown reasons, the process to handover the tube-well was not completed shortly after the completion of digging the tube-well", sources said, adding that the stone crusher of the Minister's brother was just few meters from the area, where tube-well was dug up.
Without taking any permission of the CGWB, the brother of Minister got a water-suction pump installed on the tube-well and laid pipes to steal water for his stone crushing unit. "The owners of stone crushing units require water to douse the dust, when the crushing of stones is done in the curries. Instead of digging up his own tube-well the brother of this turncoat Minister started utilizing the drinking water for his stone crushing unit", sources said, adding that for the last many months, the Minister's brother has been stealing the water for stone crusher.
They further informed that some of the villagers mustered courage and took up the matter with concerned quarters as well as with district administration Kathua but no one was ready to listen the pleas of poor-villagers. "Even the officials of CGWD have not raised any objection to the open loot of the public resources and the usage of drinking water for industrial purposes", sources said, adding that it could be due to the terror of the Minister and his brothers that no one was ready to raise any voice against any of their misdeeds.
