| Youth makes abortive bid to end life | | |

KISHTWAR, May 7: A 20 year old youth made an abortive bid to end his life by slitting his throat at his rented accommodation situated in Ward No 5 of Kishtwar town.
The youth was identified as Hassan Sheikh son of Jamal Sheikh, originally a resident of Murshidabad in West Bengal.
Meanwhile, the police in its statement stated that the victim is a painter by profession, temporarily residing near Bazar Masjid Kishtwar adding that he is reportedly mentally disturbed and has attempted to cut his throat with vegetable cutter (sickle shaped knife) .
"While doing this act his younger brother Hashmat Sheikh, a minor boy who was present on the spot intervened and prevented throat slit, by snatching the knife from his hand," reads the police statement adding that on the hue and cry and alarm of younger brother of the victim, people and police reached the spot and shifted Hassan to District Hospital Kishtwar where doctors treated upon him. The doctors for further treatment have referred him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu. |
