Apollo organize awareness camp on bone & joint replacement

Jammu, May 30: Indraprastha Apollo Hospital today conducted a free consultation camp here at Apollo Pharmacy & Tele-Clinicin Aquaf Market, Opp. Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar.
The camp was organised by team of doctors and para-medics from Indraprastha Apollo Hospital and was attended by general public, who came in large number to speak with the experts about various bone-related issues faced by them and available treatment procedures.
Addressing the camp, Dr Vibhu Bahl, Orthopaedic & Joint Replacement Consultant, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital said, "Bone-related issues are common in hilly areas and Apollo Hospital has the expertise in taking care of all such cases. Besides, regular surgeries such as fracture and Minimally Invasive Surgery for spine & Key Hole (Arthroscopic) surgeries for knee and shoulder, we at Apollo Hospital also under take surgeries,which are highly complex such as computer navigated knee replacement and hip replacement." He also spoke on dietary requirement and exercises for maintaining healthy bones both among men and women and especially among old people.
He also said that with the availability of computer navigation, knee replacement surgery involves minimal blood loss, smaller incisions, less pain & hospital stay & faster recovery.
He further said that some procedures like Partial Joint Replacement (Unicondylar knee replacement) & Regrow procedures (for necrosed bone & cartilage) are also being regularly done at Apollo.
The facilities for such procedures are available at only select centres across in India. Dr Bahl said that his unit has done more than 500 computer-navigated knee replacements, which is the highest number in India.
