The Higher Education Department did not appoint a Principal for the college after the retirement of Shakeela Begum three months ago. Speaking to Early Times the students said that there is no one in the college who can listen to their problems as most of the issues related to the college fall under the domain of Principal of the institution. They stated that college administration has not submitted the admission fees of fresh students to the Jammu University and at least 650 students' fees is still pending in college account and can't be withdrawn in favour of Jammu University due to no- availability of the Principal or drawing and disbursing officer in the college. They said that in case of non deposition of the said amount, students have to pay late fee. The college professors and assistant professors along with teaching and non-teaching staff are without salaries from last four months as a result of which they and their families are suffering. They said they had approached the district administration Kishtwar many times but to no avail. "Many employees have to pay loan installments for education of their children, housing loan, etc. Due to non-availability of Principal, everything has come to a standstill," said the staff members of the college. They said that they are hopeful that the government will wake up from deep slumber and respond to their problems by filling up the vacant post of Principal. |
