JKRCEA reminds CM of her promise to restore reservation in promotion
6/3/2018 11:15:14 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 3: Expressing concern over lackadaisical approach of the State Government in resolving the issue of reservation in promotion, the Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA) has reminded Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of her promises made on various occasions to restore the reservation in promotion which was struck down by the Division Bench of J&K High Court.
Sham Lal Basson said that it is unfortunate that despite the fact that the Apex Court has stayed the High Court verdict on reservation in promotions and the J&K High Court has also ordered for implementation of Apex Court ruling in the case, the government machinery has adopted contemptuous attitude and has out rightly defied the Court orders. He further told that from time to time, the issue was also brought into the notice of Chief Minister who also assured for the early solution but all in vain as significant time has elapsed but the reservation in promotions has not been restored.
Prof. G.L.Thappa said that the JKRCEA has been able duly apprised the Chief Minister about the demand of restoration of reservation in promotion and despite the fact the necessary directions were issued by the Chief Minister to the then Law Minister to forthwith settle the issue, the genuine demand of huge population of the state is still not acceded. He suggested that political solution is the only way out to settle the issue of restoration of reservation in promotion which is a sensitive socio-political affair confronting more than 60% of the population of J&K State.
Mohinder Bhagat, President All J&K Bhagat Mahasabha, demanded appointment of a SC member to J&K Public Service Commission against a vacancy created after superannuation of Sh. Lal Cand.
Prof. Kali Dass, R.C.Bhasin, Som Raj Taroch, Manohr Lal, R.L.Dogra , Sat Paul, Nighat Shafeeq, Pawan Bhagat and Manoj Kumar also spoke on the ocassion.
