Early Times Report

Kishtwar, June 11: In a significant development to check the illegal connections and theft of water by the commercial establishments, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar today directed the District Treasury Officer to deduct the losses suffered by the government exchequer from the PHE employees who were found involved in issuing illegal connections.
As per the details available with Early Times, taking a strong note on the misuse of water connections which the PHE department has provided to some blue eyed people in Kishtwar District, District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana today reviewed the functioning of the PHE department Kishtwar wherein threadbare deliberations were held regarding the mechanism adopted by the said department for water supply distribution in the Kishtwar town and its adjoining Mandal areas.
During the meeting, it was found that the department has provided round the clock one and half inch diameter water supply to M/S Butt Construction Kishtwar from the Naigard gravity line for making the bricks and operating the crusher. Service stations functioning in the vicinity of Kishtwar and its adjacent areas for washing of vehicles without charging any commercial rates from the said agencies since the installation of water supply connection thereby causing huge loss to Government exchequer and showing big nexus between the department and the blue eyed persons. In the meantime, DC Kishtwar directed District Treasury Officer Kishtwar to work out the commercial charges accumulated in favour of M/S Butt Construction Kishtwar and owners of service stations and deduct the same from the salary of the officers/officials of the PHE department who were found involved in providing water connections to them without fixing the commercial charges to them from the installation of the water connections.
Meanwhile, Executive Engineer, Hydraulic Division Kishtwar is directed to legalize all water connections provided to the service stations functioning in the vicinity of Kishtwar town and its Mandal area and fix the commercial charges in their favour from the date of installation of water supply connections.
