Seniors ignored, junior made in-charge CE

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 30: A junior engineer has been appointed as in-charge Chief Engineer of a corporation, ignoring the seniority list and deserving officials.
According to a latest government order, Superintending Engineer, Design Inspection and Quality Control was given the charge of Chief Engineer in a corporation engaged in the generation of power.
If sources are to be believed, in the Power Development Department as well as other related wings of the department, there are many engineers who are seniors as per the seniority list, but still they are not preferred for senior posts.
"The department has some confirmed Chief Engineers whereas some of the engineers who are not even confirmed have been given the higher posts due to their allegiance to power corridors, whereas those who are confirmed are being denied their due share", sources said.
Sources further divulged that during the tenure of PDP-BJP government, the officials, who were holding close relations with power corridors were preferred by the department and were given undue postings.
"Some upright officers, who had refused to follow the dictates of the ministers were sidelined by the department and were given punish postings", sources said, adding that after the Governor Rule was imposed in the state, there were high hopes that the upright officers as well as those deserving as per seniority list would be preferred by the department but there seemed bleak possibilities.
