2 IPS officers run parallel race to grab coveted post of SP (South) Jammu
7/2/2018 10:58:10 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 2: As many as two Indian Police Services (IPS) officers have initiated strenuous efforts to grab the prize posting of Superintendent of Police (SP) (South) Jammu after it fell vacant with the transfer of the then incumbent to Kashmir Valley.
Both these IPS officers remained posted as SDPOs in Jammu district in the past and now they are leaving no stone unturned to get posted as SP (South) Jammu as the particular posting is considered to be very important in Jammu division.
Sources informed Early Times that apart from these two IPS officer, several KPS officers are also engaged in the race to get the key posting. However, the police department has decided to hand over the posting to an IPS officer.
Sources said that after the transfer of SP (South) Jammu Sandeep Chaudhary to Kashmir, no one has been sent as a replacement so far.
"Several officers have started to make hectic efforts in order to get this coveted post. However, two IPS officers are in the forefront of this race. Of the two officers, one is local and the other is from outside the state. Both have worked in Jammu in the past. One of them has plenty of links in the centre. Both are currently posted in Kashmir and very keen to return from the Valley," sources said.
They said that both the IPS officers have an eye on the post of SP (South) Jammu. The duo was posted in Kashmir last year only. Both of them have a gap of about three months in their postings to Kashmir. One was placed three months earlier while the other was sent there three months later and both are posted as Additional SPs.
"As soon as the SP (South) Jammu's post got vacant, both these officers began to apply their manoeuvrings on their personal level so that they are considered for the posting. They have activated their political links to get their mission accomplished. They are also trying as many recommendations as possible to seize the opportunity in hand. They also activated their contacts at Police Headquarters so that their names could get the necessary nod from the Governor's Office," sources said.
"However, as of now no name of any officer has been forwarded either by the Governor House or by the PHQ. But still both the IPS officers are engaged in back channel machinations because they know that someone will be definitely given the charge of SP (South) Jammu by the weekend. In such a situation, both the officers do not want to let this opportunity go out of their hands," added sources.
