Jammu, July 4: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Adv Summit Nayyar seeking respondents to develop/improve the tourist infrastructural facilities for the Mantalai-SudhMahadev including temples which attracts a large number of tourists every year both in summer and winter season and to take effective measures as expeditiously as possible, a Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta observed that Vide order dated 22.05.2018, AH Bhat, GA was directed to file affidavit stating therein the period within which the developmental projects with regard to the development of Mantalai and Sudhmahadev will be completed and shall also give the details of the amount that has been spent on these projects till now, but needful has not been done.
DB further observed that counsel appearing for the State respondents seeks further time for filing compliance of order dated 22.05.2018.Let needful be done by or before next date of hearing. It is also provided that CEO Patnitop Development Authority, Kud, District Udhampur shall also remain present on the next date of hearing along with record to explain his position.
In the PIL it has been submitted that Jammu and Kashmir attracts from all over the world for its presence of religious temples and striking scenic beauty. Sudhmahadev temple and Mantalai temple in Udhampur District are considered sacred. It was further submitted that the Dhirendra Bramchari, the yogic mentor of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was killed in an air crash in June 1994 and his property worth hundreds of crore in Mantalai Aparna Asharam is gathering dust.
In the past several years the state government has failed to promote the tourist resort on the tourism map of the state. According to the sources of the petitioner the immoveable and movable property located inside the sprawling ashram built over 1002 kanals of land is almost lying in dilapidated condition. Out of 26 rooms of the under construction five star hotel the automatic locks of one dozen rooms are broken and nothing is lying inside these rooms. That after his accidental death in a private plane crash on 9th of June 1994 the yoga guru's property was left untouched by the successive State government.
