Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, July 4: In a virtual embarrassment for the entire medical fraternity two senior doctors today came to blows with one accusing the other of occupying his chair despite the issuance of a government order in this regard.
Reports said that former Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM) Dr. Mohan Singh today entered the office of Mission Directorate at Chanapora here and carried out the tasks supposed to be accomplished by the incumbent director. Dr. Yashpal Sharma is the present Mission Director of NHM.
The situation turned ugly as soon as Dr. Sharma reached his office and found Dr. Mohan sitting on his chair. The incumbent Mission Director took strong exception to the presence of his predecessor. He asked Dr. Mohan to vacate the chair, but the latter did not listen to his plea and cling on the chair. Both the present Mission Director and the former one entered into heated arguments.
They came to blows with the things turning worse. In a fit of things the former Mission Director pounced upon him Dr. Sharma and beat him as well. As the things went out of control the employees of the Mission Directorate entered the office and rang up the local police post in order to bring the situation under control.
As soon as the police received the phone call they rushed to the office of Mission Director NHM and sorted out the controversy. They pacified both the doctors and asked them to behave properly failing which they would be forced to take action against both of them.
Dr. Sharma has lodged a written complaint with police post Chanapora in which he has said that Dr. Mohan had threatened to kill him. He has requested the police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the former Director. He has said that many of his colleagues know about the whole incident and as such stringent action needs to be taken against his predecessor.
The complaint has been addressed to Station House Officer (SHO) Chanapora. The complainant has written that Dr. Mohan entered his office while he was having a meeting with the other officials. He has said that former Mission Director beat him up and also forced him out of the chair. He said that Dr. Mohan threatened to kill him as and when he gets an opportunity.
Dr. Sharma has in the complaint written that on Tuesday (July 3) the former Mission Director with the help of another employee first switched off and then damaged the Close Circuit Television Camera (CCTV) at the Directorate. He has requested the police to lodge an FIR against Dr. Mohan and initiate criminal proceedings against him.
