Another youth joins militancy in Chenab valley
7/7/2018 10:54:28 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 7: One more youth from Doda district of the Chenab valley has joined militancy.
Abid Hussain Butt, son of Wali Mohammad Butt, of Sazan village in tehsil Baghwa of the mountainous district joined Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit on July 1.
As per details available with Early Times, the LeT released a photograph of Abid carrying an AK 47 rifle. He has been given the alias of Abu Turab, and as per the LeT, he is a Class 12 passout.
Speaking to reporters, SSP Doda, Mohammad Shabir Khatana, said that after the photo of Abid surfaced, the police launched a probe and found that his phone was switched off since July 1.
Abid, who has five siblings, went to Rajouri to work as a labourer, said the SSP. He said that from Rajouri he had shifted to the Valley and may have joined the militancy there.
Abid's joining of militancy comes a day after Kishtwar police busted a major Hizb terror hideout by arresting three persons. Two of the arrested youths, Osama Bin Javed and Muddasir Hussain, both residents of Dachhan, Kishtwar, had reportedly joined LeT and Hizb respectively. But Kishtwar police is yet to declare them as categorized militants while all other security agencies including army have declared them as militants.
Before that, Assam resident Qamru Din who was working at Kishtwar as a vendor had joined militancy in Dachhan area and is presently switching between Kashmir valley and Kishtwar forests.
Meanwhile, sources said that during the questioning of the two persons, Rameez Wani and Nisar Ahmed, it has come to fore that two youths Muddasir Hussain of Tandar, Dachhan, and Osama Javed, younger brother of Rameez Wani who was studying in Islamic college Srinagar from where he fled in the month of July 2017 and is missing since then too has joined the terror outfit in 2017 itself.
They told the police that Osama Javed had joined LeT after Hizb commander did not allow him to join Hizb terror group in Marwah/Dachhan area for his highly radicalized thinking. He later returned to Kishtwar from where he left for south Kashmir and join the LeT and is presently said to be active in south Kashmir areas bordering Kishtwar and is in process to shift the group of militants to Kishtwar as and when get the opportunity.
Sources said that though Osama tried his best to change the narrative of Hizb commander Jahinger Saroori, following which Saroori also beat him and sent him back as he (Saroori) wanted him to work as an OGW instead of an active militant, the highly radicalized Osama choose the other way.
The sources also confirmed that Muddasir had joined the Hizb. However Kishtwar police is yet to declare Osama and Muddasir as categorized militants.
The sources said that police was pursuing their family members to get both of them back into mainstream as they are yet to get themselves involved in a terror-related incident.
Speaking at a press conference last week, SP Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary said that though both had reportedly joined the militancy, Kishtwar police is verifying the reports and is looking forward for more credible information before designating the both as militants.
It is pertinent to mention that Doda district was known for top ranks militant commanders during the 90s. The district was declared as 'militancy free' some years ago along with Ramban district. But after Abid became a militant and occasional inputs of infiltration of militants in higher mountainous reaches of Kishtwar and Doda district has put the security forces on tenterhooks as militants groups based in Pakistan are eagerly waiting to strike in peaceful areas of Chenab valley to create Kashmir-like situation.
