Female NPP leaders manhandled by male police at behest of police officer: Harsh
NPP lodges FIR against SSP Udhampur
7/23/2018 10:47:20 PM
Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, July 23: Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and Balwant Singh Mankotia State President JKNPP together with 100 odd NPP activists today lodged an FIR against SSP Udhampur Rayees Bhat for criminal intimidation, threats, abusive language and assault upon NPP Chairman and for directing his subordinate staff and male Police personnel to physically throw the female NPP leaders out of the office of DC Udhampur.
The FIR was lodged with SHO Udhampur in Police station Udhampur. Appealing further the Governor and Director General of Police to take cognizance of the criminal conduct of the said SSP, the Panthers leaders sought immediate action against the erring officer who was resorting to blatant and brazen display of authoritarianism and harassing the NPP workers in particular.
The NPP leaders said that while they had gone to DC Office to submit memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, the SSP Udhampur was already sitting in his Chamber with his SHO waiting for his orders outside the office in pursuance of a pre-planned move, a conspiracy to bully and browbeat the Panthers, who had filed several complaints against the said SSP with the higher authorities.
Singh said that several protests were held against the said SSP and Udhampur Police in the past for victimization and undue harassment of NPP workers, for giving patronage to goonda elements, vandals and marauders in Udhampur, for huge corruption, for bullying the poor and un-influential, for promoting the interests of some political parties, for acting at the behest of selected politicians and for increased bovine smuggling in the District.
Singh said that despite his clean image and unblemished political career of more than 20 years, and with several awards at state and national level to his credit, the SSP had dubbed him as criminal and registered more than one dozen criminal cases against him in his over ambition to please his political masters.
"Impartial probe into the past conduct of the said SSP would amply reveal his immense bias and prejudice against NPP leaders who have been frequently booked under frivolous charges with several of them detained without following due process of law," said Singh. He said that with more than two dozen complaints against BJP workers having been thrown into the dustbin, the said SSP had registered several FIRs on NPP workers in his missionary zeal to enjoy goodwill of his political godfathers. Seeking registration of FIR against SSP Udhampur, Mankotia expressed serious concern over the manhandling of female leaders by male police inside DC Office Udhampur which, he said, was intolerable. He said that the SSP Udhampur was conducting himself as an unquestionable 'despot' and his behaviour was highly unbecoming of a police officer.
