Despite democratic process having been completed fears of Army rule looms large in Pakistan

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 28: Despite emerging as the largest single party in the recent elections held to the National Assembly in Pakistan,Imran Khan, who heads the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party, needs the support of some MLAs to form the Government as Imran has not been able to win either simple or absolute Majority.Imran has indicated that he could form the Government with the support of some Independent MLAs after the PML(N) Chief,Shehbaz Sharif announced that his party may totally boycott the National Assembly on the plea that the elections were rigged and the polling agents of the PML(N) were thrown out from the polling booths in various areas.
And the ace cricket star Imran Khan won in Pakistan's polls but he will have to seek out allies to form a coalition government. After Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) of Bilawal Bhutto blamed the establishment .for large scale rigging the PPP may not support Imran Khan.
After a tediously slow count, Pakistan election officials Friday announced Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party won 116 of the 269 seats being contested in the National Assembly. The P
Behind the veil
L(N) had won 57 seats and the PPP was satisfied with 39 seats. Others have won 37 seats and these 37 MLAs could help Imran Khan to form the Government.A majority of 137 is needed to form the Government. That means Imran needs the support of 28 MLAs for the formation of the Government.
This way an era of political uncertanity has crept in Pakistan because of inability of Imran to form the Government. There are not many independent candidates and it depends on the MQM but the divided and disheartened MQM may not support Imran when its leader Altaf has urged all MQM MLAs to resign.Five parties have alleged poll rigging that hence Imran may not be able to form the coalition Government.
Not many independent conestants have been able to win the polls so their support may not bail out Imran.
Army functionaries do not believe the allegations of rigging because these functionaries because of the fact that 3.70 lakh troops were deployed being the highest in the nation's poll battle. And if Imran is unable to form a coalition Government Pakistan may be either in for Army rule despite democratic process having been completed.
