GDC Doda organizes intercollege symposium on Drug Abuse in Chenab region

Doda, Oct 17: Department of Zoology Govt Degree College Doda organizes inter-college symposium competition on Drug abuse, illicit trafickking in chenab region, consequences and remedies under the presidenship of Principal GDC Doda Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi. Science Technology and Innovation council, Department of Science and Technology Govt of J&K sponsored this valuable event.
Dr Zia Shokat Psychiatrist District Hospital Doda graced the occasion as a resource person. Different Colleges of the Chenab region viz GDC Thathri, GDC Kilhotran and GDC Bhaderwah took part in the event with two participants from each College. The Programme began with the introductory speech by Head Department of Zoology GDC Doda Dr Ajaz Ahmed Wani. It was followed by the speeches by different participants.
The symposium competition was adjudged by Prof Prithvi Raj, Dr Jamsheed Ahmed, Dr Sumit Kotwal and Dr Tasir Sharief. An entertaining and relevant to the topic of symposium, a skitt was also performed by the students of B.Sc 5th Sem. Resource person also spoke on the occasion, throwing light on the indulging of tender youth particularly of Chenab region in this drug menace, illicit traficking, consequences and remedies thereof.
GDC Thathri topped the list of winners with Rubia Naaz as the first position holder. Edress Ahmed from GDC Doda and Shahid Saleem from GDC Kilohtran got 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. Besides consollation prizes were also given to Shalini Chandel from GDC Doda and Sangeeta Devi from GDC Bhaderwah.
Principal GDC Doda Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi in his presidential address congratulated the Department of Zoology GDC Doda for organizing this event which being the need of the hour and stressed upon the student community to refrain from this drug menace which has engulfed the major portion of Society and act as great ambassadors in dissiminating this message amoung the youth particularly of Chenab region.
The faculty members present on the occasion were Prof Babu Ram, Prof Falak, Prof Prithvi Raj, Prof Shambhoo Nath, Prof Bashir Ahmed, Dr Wahied Balwan, Prof Imteyaz Ahmed, Dr Munish Thakur, Dr Isha Salathia, Dr Aslam Rather, Dr Tasir Sharief, and Prof Younis Rasheed. Whole programme was co-ordinated by Miss Afshan Zareen and Uzma Parveen, students of 5th Sem. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Prof Imteyaz Ahmed.
