Over 50060 people lose their lives in train accidents
10/24/2018 10:02:44 PM
The most tragic train accident took place in Amritsar in which over 50 people were killed and scores of people were injured. But this is a sign of train disasters and about 50,000 people have lost their lives between 2015 and 2017 on railway tracks after being hit by trains, according to official data. Most of the deaths were reported from the Northern Railway zone at 7,908, followed by 6,149 deaths from the Southern Railway zone and 5,670 deaths from the Eastern Railway zone.Deaths on railway tracks occur due to trespassing, violating safety and cautionary instructions, avoiding over-bridges, using phones and other gadgets when crossing railway tracks.Unauthorised trespassing on railway premises, including tracks, is a punishable offence under Section 147 of the Railways Act, 1989. During 2018, as of September, 1,20,923 people were arrested and prosecuted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for intruding the railway system. A total fine of Rs 2.94 crore was imposed on them.Still there is no relief from the accidents. And whenever trains collide there is enormous loss of life.. And most of the railway crossing are unmanned with the result there is no restrictions on the movement of the pedestrians crossing the railway crossings. And in Amritsar train disaster the railways authorities have not accepted any blame and they blame the Dussehra revelers. Atleast sixty people are feared dead in a train collision in West Bengal, near the Jharkhand border. 86 people have been injured and rushed to the hospital. At around 2 am on Monday, the Uttar Banga Express coming in from New Cooch Bihar to Sealdah rammed a stationary Bhagalpur-Ranchi Vananchal Express at Sainthia station in Virbhum district, 191 kms from Howrah.According to a local television channel, so great was the impact that the roof of a bogey had been detached in the collision and was thrown up on an overbrid. Most of the accidents take place because of of the t rain tracks results in derailment of trains the negligence of the train driver and improper maintenance of railways crossings also add to accidents. Invariably trains collide with other trains indicating that there is no timing for the the departure or the arrival of the trains. Normally trains collide with cars, trucks and buses trying to cross the train tracks and above all the collapsed bridges too add to the number of accidents And the faulty equipment also cause derailment of trains. Once the trains leave the station the railways forget about monitoring the movement of the trains and the arrival of the trains. At time passengers are in a hurry and try to catch the train while it is leaving the station and some are in a hurry to come down the train while it has not halted at the station.Though people ar e responsible for the tragic train disasters but the railways, the biggest network in India, have to modernize the system so that zero level accidents take place.Otherwise loss of 50,000 lives in three years is a big loss.
