Inter Polytechnic sports meet enters 3rd day

JAMMU, Oct 31: The ongoing 1st Inter Polytechnic Annual Sports Meet "SPORTECH 2018" at Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk Jammu on Wednesday entered its 3rd day.
The event was inaugurated by Sh. Ajeet Kumar Sahu (IAS), Secretary to Government School and Technical Education, J&K Government, in presence of Ms. Anoo Malhotra (KAS), Director, Technical Education, J&K, Government. Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the college along with Er. Inderjeet Singh, Er. K.S. Bhatia Sports Secretary, Mrs Guminderpreet Kour PEM and Toshi Devi PET interacted with various participating teams.
The Highlight of Day's function was Tug-of War Tournament, GP Kishtwar defeated GP Ramban by 2-0, GP Jammu won over ASC Polytechnic by 2-0, GP Udhampur defeated GP Reasi by 2-1 while GP Kishtwar defeated GP Udhampur by 2-0 and in the Final enthralling match (Boys Category) GP Jammu defeated GP Kishtwar by 2-0 in the packed ground of students cheering both the teams.
In Girls category, GP Women defeated GP Jammu in the final by 2-0. The event was judged by Ravinder Singh (PEM), Hardev Singh (PEM) and Amolak Singh (PET) from Youth services and Sports Department.
In Cricket Tournament, the 1st seminal was played between GP Kishtwar and GP Ramban in which GP Ramban won by 21 runs. Karamveer Singh of GP Kishtwar was declared man of the match for his brilliant performance as he took 3 wickets and scored smashing 22 runs. The 2nd semifinal will be played between G P Jammu and G P Udhampur tomorrow.
In Table Tennis Tournament, In 1st semi-final match Parav from ASC Polytechnic defeated Kameshwar from GP Jammu (7-11,0-11,5-11) while in 2nd match between Abhay Singh and Piyush from GP Jammu, Piyush won by (5-11,9-11,7-11) and reached the finals.
In Carom tournament, Round robin matches were played between Azhar Mehmood & Amanjot Singh from GP Jammu, Sahil Dubey & Sorav Sharma from GP Kathua, Devender Kumar & Munir Hussain from GP Reasi and Subodh Parasher & Sachin Sharma from GP Udhampur. After playing three matches by each team GP Jammu was leading with 3 wins and 0 loss; GP Kathua with 2 wins and 1 loss; GP Reasi with 1 win and 2 loss and GP Udhampur with 0 win and 3 loss. The final will be played between the team of G P Jammu and G P Kathua. In girls' team Pupinder Kour and Neha Manhas from GP Jammu, Liza Talashi and Zara Talashi from Women Polytechnic Jammu won their round robin matches and will now face each other in final.
In Chess tournament, the team of G P Jammu lea by Yahya Bashir was winner while the Team of G P Samba was runner up. Paras Sardhalia from GP Samba was adjudged as Player of Chess Tournament.
In Badminton Tournament, In final match played between GP Jammu and GP Reasi, Aham of GP Jammu defeated Rohit of GP Reasi by 21-6 and 21-12 and in Doubles Shubham and Udayvir of GP Jammu defeated Vaneet and Deepak of GP Reasi by 21-10 and 21-15.
