Female infanticide is the inten
tional killing of female foetus in mother's womb by identifying her sex. Killing the new born female child deliberately is the modern practice of sex selective abortion. Female infanticide is a serious issue and a pathetic matter of concern in a conservative typical society like ours. There are only 7.1 million fewer girls than boys aged 0-6 years. Six thousand females are killed every day in our country by infanticide. India loses three million girls in infanticide (female homicide). This is such a pity matter of shame. I really feel surprised to note that we are living in a country, in a society where we all worship female goddess. We are true devotee of female goddess like Maa Durga, Maa Kali, Ma Lakshmi inspite the society is man chauvinism.
Why men always dominate women?
Why we have separate rules and norms for women in the society?
Why a girl child is not allowed to go out after dawn?
Why we are do judgemental about the girls in the society?
If a girl is not decently dressed up, she has been given some bad names viz whore, pyscopath or slut. A girl is not even allowed to work in night shifts. why the level of segregation on the basis of gender is so high. If a boy decides not to get married till he achieves what he wants, he is ambitious, career oriented fellow & a creative guy, contrary to it if a girl is ambitious its a cuss. Why we girls are not seen with equal eyes in our society?
We all need to focus on the main reasons of preference of a male child over female child.
Transmission of father's name and property.
A boy when got married extend his family's lineage.
A boy is expected to fulfills the final rites of parents (funeral rites)
It is believed in the society that its worthwhile to spend money on educating a male member of the family because he is the one who is expected to contribute to family even after his marriage by supporting his aging parents. Quite contrary to it, a female child is considered as a liability till she is married off. Spending money on a female child is equated to a venture which has already been failed.
According to the intellectual thoughts of Indian conservative families, parents even don't touch what their girl child earns whether before or after marriage.
Parents are pretty insecure about their girl child because what they believe that its not safe to allow their girl child to go all alone in college for higher education or out for a job.
Selecting a life partner is a choice for a male but females are prohibited for the same. She has no choice of her own. She only has to marry what her parents or other family member selected or chosen for her.
Girls must be given equal rights in the society. Girls must be given a freedom of choice. Women have already proved in various spheres i.e IT, Medical, Defence, Airlines that we are no less than men.
A woman is the only God's creation who is blessed with supreme power of holding another soul beneath her soul (mother's womb).
If there is a problem there has to be a solution, but where does the solution come from?
I have a question for our man chauvinism society, why in our society, we all no doubt, intellectually understand the problem but when it comes to their personal issues they often go against their own logic. We need to implement our words because "Example is better than precept".
