MBA turned LeT militant killed in brief shootout in Pulwama

SRINAGAR, Dec 28: An Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree holder turned militant was killed in a brief encounter with security forces at Banderpora in South Kashmir's Pulwama district early morning today.
Reports said that a group of militants fired upon a patrolling party of army's 55 RR in the Banderpora area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district. The fire was returned thus triggering a brief encounter between the two sides. In the shootout one militant was killed. He was identified as Ishfaq Yousuf Wani, resident of Koil-Pulwama.
Reports said that two militants managed to escape from the site of encounter while as one militant was killed. It has been learnt from sources that Hizbul Mujahideen commander Reyaz Ahmad Naikoo and Junaid Ashraf Sehrai were the two militants who managed to run away from the encounter site at Banderpora.
Reports said that a trio of militants entered into a face-off in the Banderpora area and the two sides entered into a brief exchange of fire. The gunfight with the killing of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant Ishfaq Yousuf with some arms and ammunition also recovered from the site of encounter. Twenty six years old Ishfaq had completed his MBA and joined the militant ranks in July this year. Ishfaq received early education from Alamdar Public school at Koil, then completed Bachelors in Science from Government Degree College Pulwama. He did his MBA in 2015, after which he got a job at ICICI Bank. He gave up the job and concentrated on his family business of fruits. A police spokesman said that based on a credible input about the presence of militants in the Banderpora area of District Pulwama, a cordon and search operation was launched in the morning hours jointly by police and security forces in the area. As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the militants. The fire was retaliated leading to a gunfight. "In the ensuing encounter, one militant identified as Ishfaq Yousuf Wani son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani resident of Koil-Pulwama was killed. He was wanted by the law for his complicity in a series of militancy related crimes including attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities," said the spokesman.
Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the matter. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and probe his complicity in other terror crimes.
