Secy PHE, Farooq Shah applies for voluntary retirement, likely to join NC

Srinagar, Feb 20: In another development, Secretary PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control & DMRRR, Farooq Ahmad Shah on Wednesday applied for voluntary retirement from services.
Shah, who has served at various top posts in different departments including DC Srinagar, DC Anantnag, Director Tourism, Secretary Tourism and Education, Secretary PHE, I&FC and Relief and rehabilitation, according to sources will join Farooq Abdullah led Jammu Kashmir National Confrence.
Officials said that Shah has tendered volunteer retirement from the services before the government on Wednesday after he was reportedly conveyed that top leadership of the party has agreed to filed him from Tangmarg Constituency of North Kashmir.
"He will join National Conference (NC) and would contest upcoming assembly elections from Tangmarg assembly constituency," a source close to IAS officer said.
Sources said that Shah established indirect with the National Cofrence Leadership few months ago.
"Farooq Ahmad as Commissioner Secretary Tourism Department worked hard and was close to former Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed, however after his demise he was removed that hurt him and differences between him and rulling party started cropping up," revealed sources.
They claimed that previous PDP-BJP Govt removed him on the directions of an influential hotelier, however Shah was always considered close to NC Leader Mustafa Kamal.
