JMC organizes programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 28: A programme on the topic "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'" was organized on the directions of Mayor, JMC Chander Mohan Gupta in collaboration with Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu. During the programme, Mayor Chader Mohan Gupta was the Chief Guest and Suraj Prakash Padha, Chairman Swachh Bharat Mission Committee, JMC was the Guest of Honour. Principal Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Anil Gupta welcomed to Mayor, JMC and thanked to the JMC for giving the opportunity to this College for conducting such programmes. All the staff members and students of Government SPMR College of commerce participated in the Programme. Councillor Ward No. 19 Amit Gupta was also present on the occasion. The lectures were delivered by Jorawar Singh, Associated Representative from JMC and Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Nodal Officer Solid Waste Management, JMC regarding the topic Solid Waste Management enhancing the Mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by Prime Minister of India. Chairman SWM, Committee, JMC also delivered the lecture regarding awareness of SBM programme. The students were told that the Municipal waste is comprised of organic/inorganic materials. From organic material Methane CH4 is prepared after the process of fermentation which may be completed within few days and from inorganic material particular from plastic, plastic oil, kerosene oil is prepared. Plastic oil is used in place of Bitumen to save fossil, fuel and from kerosene oil other petroleum products are prepared. A rally was taken around the institution and students were told to put the organic /inorganic material in separate dustbins. This activity helped students to learn about segregation of material for the process of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recovery and others. Mayor, JMC presided the event Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and persuade to all present in the College to work hard to complete the exercised Swachh Bharat to bring in Top 10 cleanest city of India. He further thanked to the college administration for cooperation and participation in the Mission. Continuing to provide benefits as well as awareness under various centrally sponsored schemes, Mayor, JMC distributed 50 Nos. of LPG connections to the beneficiaries in Ward No. 33 under the Prime Minister's Ujjwala Yojana with the assistance of Asha Gas Agency situated at Toph Sherkhanian, Jammu. Councillor of Ward No. 33 Shakti Nagar Surinder Chowdhary alongwith ward President Balwant Singh and other prominent citizens/workers of the area Ved Sharma and Satpal Khajuria were also present on the occasion. Mayor also briefed the general public to avail maximum benefits of the various centrally sponsored schemes launched by the Prime Minister of India. |
