Health deptt fails to identify land for newly established NTPHC | Most of them run from makeshift arrangement | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 28: The health department has failed to identify land for the newly upgraded 100 New Types of Public Health Centres and most of them continue to operate from the makeshift arrangements. Castigating the department concerned, sources said that despite repeated communiqués from Directorate of Nation Health Mission to identify a suitable piece of land for New Type of Public Health Centres (NTPHC) the chief medical officers have failed to do so. Their failure has forced the most of the NTPHC to run from from private buildings and every year a huge amount is paid as rent. Sources further said that in 2014 then state government had announced spree of Sub Centres and NTPHC to rural areas and leftover areas of state with government order No: 584 HME of 2014. "But unfortunately, most of sub centres are running from the private accommodations", said sources adding that in 2015, the then NHM Mission Directorate J&K had inaugurated three NTPHC in Kathua district wherein one each for Village Govindsar and Ramnagar and Krishana Colony and announced that sanctioned strength as per norms of Indian Public health Standard would be provided soon but ironically now-a-days all of them were run by single Medical Officer. As per the norms of Indian Public Health Standard (IPHS), the newly established PHC should have two medical officer (one for Allopathic and one for AYUSH), a dental surgeon, three Staff nurses, one Female Health Worker, one Health Educator, two health Assistant one female/Male but in state of Jammu and Kashmir most of NTPHC are under staff dearth. It is pertinent to mention here that it is not a saga of few NTPHC which are running from rented buildings, there are more than 185 NTPHC which were upgraded since 2014 from Sub-Health Centres to P HC level, have been running from makeshift arrangements and huge amount is being paid as rent of building which shows blatantly exploitation of public exchequers. |
