SIC directs BDO to allow inspection of records | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 28: The State Information Commission (SIC) has given direction to the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Kishtwar to allow inspection of record / official files under RTI Act pertaining to Junior Engineers (JEs) who were posted in block Kishtwar from year 2000 till 2018. The information sought by an information seeker was earlier denied by the BDO who is also the designated Public Information Officer (PIO) under J&K RTI Act 2009. Details available with Early Times reveal that an RTI application dated: 29.06.2018 was filed by one Mohammad Aleem Wani Advocate J&K High Court seeking information from BDO, Kishtwar about posting of JEs in the block from last 18 years. After not getting the details from the BDO , Advocate Aleem filed First Appeal before the Director, Rural Development Department, Jammu (First Appellate Authority -FAA) on 28.08.2018. The aggrieved information seeker was again not satisfied and accordingly filed Second Appeal before the State Information Commission (SIC) on 19.10.2018. The appeal was admitted in SIC on 23.10.2018 with a prayer that the respondents (BDO / Director RDD Jammu) be directed to furnish the requisite information and asked for appropriate penal action taken against them. The appeal once again came up for hearing before the State Information Commission (SIC) on 13.02.2019. None of the parties were present during the case hearing. The appeal was disposed off by the Commission with a direction to the PIO (BDO Kishtwar) to file compliance report before the Commission in respect of implementation of the directions given by this Commission on 02.01.2019, within a period of 15 days from the date of receipt of this order. |
