Cong holds party convention at Dramani, Billawar
3/12/2019 11:26:34 PM
Early Times Report
billawar, Mar 12: Congress today held a party convention-cum-monthly Block Congress Committee meeting for its cadre at village Dramani in tehsil Billawar of district Kathua.
Former Minister and president District Congress Committee Kathua Dr Manohar Lal Sharma and Ex-MLC and party leader Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh along with Ghulam Haider Malik (ex- Deputy Speaker, State Legislative Assembly) were present on the occasion.
While addressing the convention, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma asked the party workers to leave no stone unturned in making congress candidates winner in the upcoming Parliamentary election in the state. While speaking on Rafale issue, Dr Sharma said recent submission by government in the court that documents regarding the rafale purchase were stolen or misplaced is sheer mockery and proof of lies and misdeeds of BJP government. He said that people of the country have the right to hold the elected government to the highest standards of transparency and accountability. Dr Sharma further said that during the last regime Kathua district has most suffered due to lack of vision and policies of the BJP government. He said many projects started by him were either stalled or being executed on a snail's pace.
While speaking on the occasion, Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh said that his family has long association with the area as his father and Sadr-e-riyasat Dr Karan Singh has twice represented the area in Lok Sabha. He said during last 4 years no major development work has taken place in the area and termed it as the failure of previous MLA and present MP from BJP. Vikramaditya said many projects started by previous Congress government have come to standstill and are waiting to meet their finish dates due to callous and non-serious attitude of the BJP government. The dual standards and political exploitation on the part of BJP stand exposed, he asserted.
Ex-Deputy Speaker Ghulam Haider Malik while addressing the meeting also expressed confidence that Congress party will counter the falsehood and propaganda by BJP-RSS in the forthcoming elections, he said adding that the saffron party is hell bent upon to divide people for electoral gains, which will be defeated by the Congress.
