Three held with 3 KGs Charas

RAMBAN, Mar 16: In yet another example of war against drugs, Ramban Police today recovered three kilograms of Charas in two separate actions in the area of Police Station Banihal and arrested three drug peddlers.
Police spokesman said that in the first incident, on a specific information, a special naka was laid at Darpura Rallu link road.
"During checking and frisking, one known drug peddler namely Bahar Ahmad Dar of Darpura Banihal was apprehended and on search of his bag, two kilograms of search was recovered and seized. In this regard a case under FIR No 26/19 has been registered and investigation taken up.
Spokesman further said that in another incident of similar nature, an auto (three wheeler) bearing registration number JK01L-6733 was signalled to stop and put to thorough search at T chowk Banihal.
"During checking, two youth sitting in the vehicle tried to flee who were overpowered by alert cops. On thorough search, one kilogram of Charas hidden in the dashboard was recovered and seized," said spokesman adding that the youth have been identified as Azad Ahmed Bhat of Batpora, Tehsil Litter Distt Pulwama, and Adil Ahmed Padder Veer Tehsil Bijbehara Distt Anantnag.
In this regard a case under FIR No 27/19 under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation taken up.
It's pertinent to mention here that Bahar Ahmad Dar is a habitual offender of the area and in involved in as many as four FIRs. A dossier has already been submitted to DM for his detention under PSA.
Police parties headed by SDPO Banihal Sajjad Sarwar and SHO Banihal Aijaz Ahmed Wani apprehended the drug peddlers and recovered the contraband substance, under the supervision of Sanjay Parihar-Addl SP Ramban and overall supervision of Anita Sharma-SSP Ramban.
