Early Times Report

Doda, Mar 30: Disappointed over non- upgradation of high school as higher secondary school (HSS) the residents of Manjmi area of Dessa have decided to boycott the Lok Sabha polls.
According to reports, the Govt High Secondary School Manjmi was established in 1958 and upgraded as Lower High School 2003. After that school has been upgraded to High Secondary level and was approved for upgradation by the previous government under vide govt order no 737 edu of 14 on 22-10-2014 but there has been a mere long wait for them. But the classes couldn't be made functional since 2014.
Locals of the area alleged that, it was all due to politicians. In records the school is running as high secondary level but unfortunately even after the upgradation of high school but presently administration of the school take admission upto 9th class only called as Lower high school. After that students have to go Dessa or Bhagwah for higher education and they have to travelled long distance by foot creates a sense of insecurity among girls' students as most of the people living in the folk area below poverty line and under backward category. Presently school functions as a high school has not sufficient infrastructure to accommodate the classes at high school as the building is in worse condition and need to more building for high school as well secondary. What brings misery to the people of Manjmi where more than 15000 populations is that there is no higher secondary within twenty five kilometres of the area and the nearest higher secondary to it is at Buagwah or Dessa at a long distance. Recently after the announcement of upgradation of govt schools, Ex MLA Doda Shakti Raj Parihar thanks to Governor Satya Pal Malik for upgradation of various schools included Manjmi that is very unexpectable and proves eyewash to the people and students.
Despite fervent request, govt has failed to take any positive initiatives to address the d genuine demands of the poor people, Sarpanch Manjmi Latif Naik said. Residents of the Manjmi area assembled at school and decided to bycott 15000 population of polls if their greviences are not redressed. They demanded to start high secondary classes early and threat to come on roads for hunger strike for their genuine demands.
