Early Times Report jammu, Apr 6: Balraj Joshi, Chairman and Managing Director, NHPC Limited, has been conferred 'Eminent Water Resources Engineer Award - 2018' by Indian Water Resources Society (IWRS), Roorkee. Joshi was presented the award by R.N. Mishra, Ex-CMD, SJVNL and Fellow, IWRS and Dr. S.K. Mishra, Executive Vice-President, IWRS at NHPC Corporate Office, Faridabad on 4th April 2019. Dr. Ashish Pandey, Secretary, IWRS and S.K. Shukla, Ex-Director (Technical), THDC & Adjunct Professor, IIT Roorkee well also present on the occasion. Joshi has been given this prestigious award for his immense engineering contributions in the field of Water Resources Development and Management. During his distinguished career spanning over 35 years, He has contributed to NHPC's development by serving many projects namely Salal, Dul Hasti, Kurichu Project (Bhutan), Teesta-V, Teesta Low Dam-III and IV, Parbati-III, Chutak, Chamera-III, Parbati-II and others. He has also been associated with NHPC's Consultancy assignments for many projects as 1200 MW Tamanthi and 880 MW Shwezaye in Myanmar, 720 MW Mangdechhu, Bhutan and Bakreswar Thermal Power Project of M/s West Bengal Development Corporation and others. NHPC has made many important achievements under Joshi including CCEA nod for acquisition of Lanco's Teesta-VI HE Project (500 MW), CCEA clearance of Kiru HE Project (624 MW) of M/s CVPPPL (JV of NHPC Limited, JKSPDC and PTC) and signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for execution of 850 MW Ratle Hydroelectric Project (Jammu & Kashmir). |
