Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 8: Operation All Out continues to prove lethal for the militant groups in Kashmir as in the first three months of the year 2019- 67 militants have been gunned down, taking the total number of militants killed in the past nine years to 1510.
As per the latest figures, since January 1, 2019, 67 militants have been killed till April 5 . After the most lethal attack on security forces in South Kashmir's Pulwama February 14, this year in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed, army squinted towards Pakistan based militant group Jaish which was responsible for the offensive. Figures suggest that 30 militants from the outfit have been till date gunned down.
There were fifty incidents of violence reported in the first three months of 2019 in which 12 civilians, 57 security forces and 67 militants have been killed. The total loss of life from January 1 to April 5 this year is 136.
The pace with which the anti-militancy operations in Kashmir are being carried out, it seems that the current year will surpass 2018 which emerged as the most fatal year for Kashmir's militancy in the past nine years. In 2018, 270 militants were killed- making it the highest number since the year 2010.
As per the official figures in the past fort night alone, 15 militants have been killed in both, south and northern Kashmir and police claims that "all operations were intelligence input based.
In the year 2017, the data reveals that 207 militants including some top commanders from different militant outfits were killed. The 'Operation All Out' launched by Indian Combined Forces including Army, Para-military Central Reserve Police Force and counter-insurgency unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Special Operation Group resulted in the maximum number of killing of militants particularly in South Kashmir, considered earlier as the bastion of present-day militancy in Kashmir.
Some of the top militant commanders who were killed that year included Abu Dujana, Jaish Chief Khalid Bhai, Sabzar Bhat, Bashir Lashkari, Junaid Matoo, Qayoom Najar, Noor Tral, Umar Khatab, Muzafar Ahmed Naiko alias Muza Molvi of Sopore, Abu Surag of Pakistan, Adil Ahmad Reshi of Bijbehara, Abid Ahmad Sheikh of Saktipora and Masood Ahmad Shah of Bewoora village, Abu Musaib, Qari Anas Abu Ali, Azaharuddin alias Ghazi Umar, Sajad Ahmed alias Babar, Mudasir Ahmad Tantray alias Asim, Wakeel Ahmad Thokar, Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Younus Lone, Mushtaq Ahmed, Muhammad Shafi Sherguri and Jahangir Ahmed Ganaie.
Furthermore, the month of November, last year proved fatal for militants. That month 28 militants were killed while in July the number of militant killing was recorded as 22. In August 21 remained the number followed by October when a total number of 17 militants were killed.
The security forces recently reiterated that the 'Operation All Out' shall continue and militant leadership operational in Valley will be specifically neutralized by the security forces in the coming days.
