SOG recovers 560 kg of poppy straw, arrests narcotic smugglers

Kathua, June 14: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Special Operations Group of J&K Police along with sleuths of Police Post Ramkot achieved a major success by recovering huge quantity of Poppy Straw which was being illegally smuggled in a truck bearing number HR56A - 0209 at Challain Chowk under the jurisdiction of Police Post Ramkot of district Kathua this evening.
The accused driver who was smuggling the contraband drugs in the truck has been identified as Satish s/o Mohinder Singh age-27 yrs R/o SSK Factory, Jaghu Shah Dera, Kapurthala Punjab. Reports revealed that, a special naka was laid jointly be SOG Jammu led by SI Rohit Gandhi & sleuths of PP Ramkote led by I/C PP SI Sumit Magotra at Challain Chowk and checking / frisking was intensified. During the process of checking, one truck bearing number HR56A - 0209 coming from Kashmir towards Kathua was put to thorough checking. During search of the truck 560 kilograms of Poppy Straw which was concealed in plastic bags inside the truck was recovered.
In this regard a case FIR No.75/19 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at PS Billawar and investigation taken up. The whole exercise was closely monitored by SSP SOG Jammu Sandeep Mehta and was carried out under the supervision of SSP Kathua Shridhar Patil.
