Urban Forestry Division's plantation drives evoke massive response

JAMMU, July 28: In continuation with the "Greening Jammu" drive, the Urban Forestry Division Jammu in collaboration with residents of Sainik Colony (Sector F) conducted plantation drive in which prominent citizens of the area actively took part and planted 50 plants of medicinal, religious and ornamental value.
The citizens who took part in the drive were: Vinod Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Sham Lal, Ashwani Kumar. The citizens assured that they will take care of all the plants planted by them. They demanded religious trees like Bel, Pipal, Neem, Kadam etc be planted in every park of Jammu.
Among others present were Sunil Singh, DFO Urban Forestry Jammu, Rakesh Verma, Range Officer Sunjwan, Nitin Charak, Block Forest Officer with all staff of Sunjwan Range.
Another plantation drive under Green J&K was held at Chouadi Morh, Bye Pass, National Highway Jammu in which Munish Gupta, Editor in Chief Early Times planted 20 plants by himself and asked DFO Urban Forestry Sunil Singh to conduct much more plantation drives in the city so that global warming could be controlled. During the plantation drive, Munish Gupta also stressed that any area which is lying vacant should be taken up under plantation. The plantation should be location specific and more stress is to be given on ornamental plants which could add beauty to city roads, Munish said. Lalit Sharma, DFO Resource Survey Jammu, Rakesh Verma Range Officer, Nitin Charak, Block Officer, also participated in the plantation drive. In continuation of Greening Jammu drive, DFO Urban Forestry Jammu Sunil accompanied by Kuldeep Verma, Block Officer, Dewakar Singh, Block Officer and other staff members of MFP Range planted 200 plants outside wall of Government Women College Gandhi Nagar Jammu, Satwari Chowk, Asia Chowk Jammu.
