Chhari Mubarak taken to Sharika-Bhawani Temple in Srinagar | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 2: The Chhari Mubarak, holy silver Mace of Lord Shiva was taken to historic Sharika-Bhawani' Temple ( Hari Parvat) to pay obeisance to the Goddess in the down town Srinagar on Friday. On Thursday the holy Mace was taken to Shankaracharya temple in summer capital, Srinagar on the occasion of 'Haryali-Amavasya' (Shravan Amavasya) as per the age-old customs, connected with annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, where so far 3.42 lakh yatries have paid obeisance. Mahant Deependra Giri, custodian of the Chhari Mubarak, led the prayers on the occasion at 'Sharika-Bhawani' Temple, Hari Parvat. Shrine of Mukhdoom Sahib is also located on other side of the hill and Gurdwara Chattipadshahi on the foothill in the down town Srinagar. The prayers are held every year before rituals are performed for Chhari-Sthapana at Shri Amreshwar temple at Dashnami Akhara near here on Saturday. A spokesman of the 'The True Trust', founded by Mahant Giri in year 2004 said that in connection with Amarnath Yatra-2019, Chhari-Mubarak was taken to Sharika-Bhawani' Temple today. The sound of conch shell reverberated and charged the whole atmosphere. Pujan was performed chanting Vedic hymn. Sizable number of Sadhus and pilgrims who had come from across the country participated in the prayers . Collective prayers were also offered for peace and prosperity of the Jammu & Kashmir State. 'The True Trust', will make all the necessary arrangements like yester years for Sadhus and pilgrims from across the country to join Chhari-Mubarak Yatra for their food, accommodation and transportation during the pilgrimage. Mahant Giri has also advised sadhus and members of civil society to get themselves registered who intend to join Chhari-Mubarak Yatra and stated that only registered pilgrims with valid Yatra Permit shall be allowed to accompany Chhari-Mubarak during the pilgrimage. The Chhari Mubarak will leave on August 5 for holy cave shrine, where final pujan will be held on August 15 when the annual pilgrimage will conclude. |
