Omar Abdullah claims Gulmarg and Pahalgam being 'emptied', tourists moved out in buses

Early Times Report
srinagar, Aug 2: Hours after the administration of Jammu and Kashmir, currently under President's rule, issued an advisory to Amarnath Yatra pilgrims and tourists asking them to 'curtail' their stay in the Valley and leave immediately, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah claimed on Thursday that tourists in Gulmarg and Pahalgam were being taken out vial buses.
Omar claimed in a tweet that tourist attractions like Gulmarg and Pahalgam were being 'emptied' and tourists shifted from there on state road corporation buses.
"Friends staying in hotels in Gulmarg are being forced to leave. State road transport Corpn buses are being deployed to bus people out from Pahalgam & Gulmarg. If there is a threat to the yatra why is Gulmarg being emptied?" the former state chief minister said on Twitter.
The remarks came as the Army earlier in the said that terrorists supported by Pakistan were plotting to target the ongoing annual Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. The Army said it had intelligence inputs to that effect. The J&K administration's warning followed the Army's revelation.
Omar, meanwhile, said he, despite being the CM of J&K, was not able to extract information from officials about what was happening in the state.
"I have so many questions & not a single answer. I've met people today who occupy important positions to do with J&K, not one of them was able to tell me anything and I've been CM for 6 years. Imagine the plight of your everyday Kashmiri who doesn't know what to believe," the former CM tweeted.
"It's easy to accuse us of spreading fear but no one is bothering to tell the people what is happening so how do you expect that fear won't be a natural result of this situation that has been allowed to fester?" he added.
Reacting to BJP leader Ram Madhav's remarks that some political parties in the state had directly or indirectly supported terrorism for their own interests, Omar pointed out that they had never in the past allowed the situation to become such that Amarnath Yatra had to be cancelled.
"The next time someone accuses a past elected government in J&K of mismanagement please remember we never allowed a situation to develop where the Amarnath yatra had to be cancelled, tourists had to be driven out or panic was allowed unchecked on the streets of the valley," the NC leader said.
Madhav had said at an event in Srinagar on Thursday: "There're 2 reasons that make a terrorist in Kashmir- politics of some political parties, who indirectly or directly support terrorism for their own interests. Political, or non-political groups like Hurriyat Conference or Jamaat-e-Islami, need to be mended. Those political leaders who support separatism, terrorism, those who send their own children abroad for studies, but make innocent children here victims of terror, the government has taken the task of mending the leaders who do this type of politics."
Omar's party, the National Conference also reacted on the situation and asked why was Governor Satya Pal Malik silent on the developments? The party accused the Governor of allowing the panic to spread.
"Where is the Governor? Why is he not addressing people? Why is he allowing panic to spread unchecked? His government has issued an order that has caused chaos on the streets. When he has to make unfounded allegations he has a camera at his disposal, yet now he's strangely silent," the party wrote on its Twitter handle.
