Early Times Report
srinagar, Aug 17: Even as former Chief Ministers and arch rivals, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have been placed under detention at government owned villas in the summer capital of Srinagar here, the duo are not satisfied with food offered to them.
Sources said the two politicians have conveyed it to the officials assigned the charge of looking after their detention that the food offered to them was not as per their individual liking. Sources said Mehbooba in particular has complained about the breakfast whereas Omar had also issues. Sources said duo has sought attention of the administration but have been told that nothing could help them as of now.
Sources said it was conveyed to the duo that they were being given food as per jail manual. "They have been told that they would have to bear with food as the same was being given to them in accordance with the jail manual as both of them are under arrest," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said while Mehbooba Mufti has been detained at the hut owned by the Forest Department in Chashmeshahi while Omar has been detained at the Hari Niwas Palace on the Gupkaar Road. "They are allowed to get fresh air at their respective detention centers but food is something that can't be offered as per their choice," said a senior official.
It is pertinent to mention that the two leaders were arrested in the wake of New Delhi's decision to revoke the special status as enjoyed by the Jammu and Kashmir and its division in two Union Territories. While the some of the leaders from the two regional parities have been jailed outside Kashmir, the two senior leaders and also Member Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah are in Kashmir. Dr Abdullah has been complaining that he has been put under house arrest at his Gupkaar Villa. Despite repeated attempts, the concerned couldn't be contacted for the comments
