| Terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed changes name to ‘Majlis Wurasa-e-Shuhuda Jammu wa Kashmir’ | | | Agencies
New Delhi, Sept 24: Banned terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has reportedly changed its name to Majlis Wurasa-e-Shuhuda Jammu wa Kashmir (meaning gathering of the descendents of martyrs of J&K). It is said that the decision was taken due to pressure from all quarters of the world and criticisms against spreading terror activities, especially after abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
JeM is a banned group that has been operating actively from Pakistan and is responsible for terror attacks at various places under different names. Currently, chief Masood Azhar is bedridden and his brother Mufti Abdul Rauf Asghar is leading the banned outfit. However, reports claim that though JeM has changed its name, it has the same leadership and its terrorist cadre will also continue to be the same. It is said that the group is preparing to launch jihad against India. One of its leaders Maulana Abid Mukhtar, has openly called for jihad against India, the US and Israel. Reports also claim that that Majlis Wurasa-e-Shuhuda Jammu wa Kashmir is ready with 30 suicide attackers to hit India. Apart from Balakot, it is also said that new recruits are in place in Bhawalpur and Sialkot to attack Indian security establishments. The group is said to have become active after Centre's decision to abrogate Articles 370 and 35A in Kashmir, making it a union territory. The baton has been handed over to Rauf Asghar and Talha Saif, brothers of Masood Azhar. |
