MENDHAR, Oct 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" was launched with an aim to make India clean, seems to have failed in Mendhar Sub-Division of Poonch district as tonnes of garbage could be seen lying in several parts of the town and its adjoining areas. The people here in the town and its adjoining areas said the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Mendhar town has totally failed on the ground. Areas like Bus Stand, Old Bus Stand, Main Bazar, Hospital road and its surroundings are glaring examples to expose the much hyped "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan". In the name of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, lakh of rupees are being drawn for the cleanliness of town, locals of Mendhar town including Ketan Verma, Rajat Kapoor, Gourav Negi and others demanded enquiry into the amount being drawn, which may be misused by the concerned authorities of Rural Development Department (RDD). The locals said the RDD has failed to implement Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as huge amount of garbage remains unattended on daily basis adding that the photo sessions during the campaigns launched by the concerned department have failed to make an impact on the ground."From the past two years we are requesting Rural Development Department to provide dustbins but instead of providing the same, they turned Mendhar town into a big garbage dump," the locals added. |
