Among detained politician, Govt likely to free Sajad Lone first | Old friendship seldom dies! | |
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 31: It was on October 14, this year when the government decided to restore mobile services in Kashmir valley after 70 days of gag and the first political party welcoming the move was Peoples Conference led by the former separatist and former BJP's ally- Sajad Gani Lone. The party spokesman at that time welcomed the decision terming it much needed and anticipated one and demanded that the internet services too should be restored at an earliest. He also stated the rthe government's decision to restore the mobile telephony is worth to hail. At present, sources said, if there are chances of any political leader being released from captivity, it is Sajad Gani Lone as he has been the BJP's ally when the latter ruled the state in coalition with the BJP for more than three years. Now with scraping of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and taking away its statehood, the union government detained more than 50 political leaders from the state to prevent disruption in law and order situation. Meanwhile, 87 days have passed since 370 was scraped and state was bifurcated into the two union territories and leaders continue to remain under detention. According to the reports, Sajad Gani Lone is going to be among the very first politicians whom the government is planning to release. "Sajad was once considered as the BJP's face in Kashmir and he accepted BJP with open arms at the time when Kashmir based politicians were reluctant to align with the BJP. If the government leaves such a white tiger in lurch, it is not going to be a very good PR for the BJP in anyway," says Kashmir based political expert. According to him, as and when the peace prevails in Kashmir, the BJP will try to settle issues with its former ally and make him conformable enough to tread the path ahead together. Furthermore, according to sources, there is high possibility that Sajad will be released first, if there are any chances of freeing the leaders in Kashmir. "There has been no negative input about Sajad Lone's party. Also, he is smart enough to raise the issues meticulously in order to save his skin," divulged sources. Pertinent to mention that on November 22, last year, when the political parties in Kashmir valley-NC and Congress declared support to the PDP to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir, it was Sajad alone who fought against the move, strived to thwart it and claimed the support of enough MLAs to form the government of his own. Talking to a new Delhi based New Channel, Lone, who served as cabinet minister in previous BJP-PDP coalition in the state, claimed that he wrote letter to the Governor, staking claim for the formation of the government only after he was sure that he had enough numbers in the kitty. "I don't know about PDP and NC but we had numbers to form the government. Now when we have accepted Governor's decision to dissolve the assembly, the PDP which is making cry of a thief should move the court of law," Sajad said. The PC chairman while responding to the question about him being involved in breaking the political parties and forming the "third front", said NC and the PDP has no right to give lectures on democracy as the duo are themselves involved in undermining the democratic institutions of the state with impunity. "Whatever I did and I am doing is within the ambit of constitution and within the legal framework. However, what NC has done in the past was incorrigible and proved lethal for the state. It is they who rigged the 1987 elections due to which gun came to Kashmir and one lakh people died. PDP too was hand in glove with schemers to undermine state's democracy in 1984 as well as in 1987. Therefore, they have no moral ground to question my actions," Sajad said. |
